Recently, the Auspex Tactics channel on youtube did a video with a "Most expensive army in 40K", for which they presented a £2,000 Krieg army that was still only 2k points, or roughly a pound for every point of model..

I thought it might be fun to try and do the opposite, and see what the cheapest 2K matched play army we can produce is. I'm going to start bidding with a custodes bike list, consisting of:

Vanguard detachment:

2x shield caps on bikes w. misacorda @178pts each: 356pts

3x 5 man vertus jetbike squads w. misacorad @ 88pts pre model: 1584 pts

total: 1,940 pts.

Cost: 17 jetbikes= 6 boxes of jetbikes @£35 each (with a single spare biker) = £210, or 9.2 points per pound sterling.

now, I believe I have a strong case here for that being the cheapest, but im not so stupid as to think I know it all, and maybe you guys can find a cheaper list than that. any takers? 2000 point list, legal detachment for matched play.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

Coven of XVth 2000pts
The Blades of Ruin 2,000pts Watch Company Rho 1650pts

Generally, there are no cheap 40k armies. I have abandoned this thought since playing it.

Nevertheless, 210 Pounds for 1950 pts looks quite cheap.

60$ x 6 a hair cheaper than the other alternative I can readily think of, which is a sh detachment of 3 stompas for 125$ each.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Three Hellhammer Super Heavy Tanks.

Two with double sponsons.

One with single sponsons.

Heavy Stubbers and Hunter Killers on everything.

The Baneblade kit is $170 CAD, so $510 total or $0.255 cents per point. Or $255 Pounds.

So you still beat this one.

Custom40k Homebrew - Alternate activation, huge customisation, support for all models from 3rd to 10th edition

Designer's Note: Hardened Veterans can be represented by any Imperial Guard models, but we've really included them to allow players to practise their skills at making a really unique and individual unit. Because of this we won't be making models to represent many of the options allowed to a Veteran squad - it's up to you to convert the models. (Imperial Guard, 3rd Edition)
