Has anybody tried them yet?
They’ve not long been released to buy, I’m intrigued as some of the colours look great and they cost approx half of a GW spray can. I came close to buying a few cans a couple of days ago but decided to wait to see what the community made of them.

Well no one responded but I’ve been watching Marco Frisoni on YouTube and on his Chanel he recommends Montana spray paints which are made for graffiti artists, so stick to anything and are weather proof, but half the price of pretty much all decent spray cans made by war game companies. I’m gonna get. A few and try them. I’d recommend watching his YouTube

Be careful that they arent enamel sprays, They take ages to cure and stink to high heaven.

there are some really quite expensive aerosols called Montana Gold', favoured by graffiti artists, and available in a really good selection of colours. I tried a couple of cans and found.... they are no good whatsover for wargaming figures. So whatever's good for graffiti isn't necessarily good for 40k.

A guy at my FLGS has been using TT's PHR Bone instead of GW Wraithbone spray as an undercoat / base for Contrast paints. He says it's darker but is pretty much the same.

All I can say is watch his videos, he does a good job with Montana sprays. There are different types of Montana, the gold edition is different to the black edition and they do water based etc. I think Montana black is what Marconi’s using
I’d be interested to know why they were no good in your experience

I've used Montana Gold sprays for terrain. The pressure is lower than we're generally used to, but that means they are more controllable and last longer than "gaming" sprays

Montana gold is labelled as low pressure, Montana black is labelled as high pressure.
There are also different caps that create different sprays. As they are artists spray paints there are things to learn but once you know what to buy for what you are trying to achieve, I.e priming then you can get a quality product at lower cost.
That’s what I picked up from the video anyway, I suggest watching it before buying any cans. It also talks about how to use them properly.
I’ll report back once I’ve tried a Montana black can

I wouldn't test on expensive minis, the enamel spray I used was horrible, I had to use a wash as a base after the primer dried because the acrylic paint just ran off without it.
What are the Montana sprays?

Montana sprays are the paints that people use to spray paint on, like, walls. With the consent of the property owner, as I assume Montana would prefer.
I believe they're acrylic-based, and some people swear by using them for miniatures in lieu of or in addition to an airbrush.

Each edition, I.e black or gold, is made using different chemicals. Some acrylic some nitro, they make a lot of different products.

I've tried 4 cans - the colours are fantastic* and they do the expected job of priming/base coat. Propellant seems not as strong as the GW cans, so needed to adjust my technique. Will happily buy more cans (already plan to!).
*spotlight yellow, turquoise, strigoi flesh and sprue grey (last one is a lighter shade than MechStd grey if you want a comparison)

I was really impressed how Marco, in his video, quickly primed some marines with Shadows and the light areas were the most vivid colours I’ve ever seen on power armour. But of course he’s a pro

I love Marco's videos. Also a big fan of Squidmar and Angel Giraldez.
So many greats making YT content. I've learned a lot in the past 12 months or so binge watching.
