So I just read the Castellan Crowe series the Warden of the Blade and Castellan and I think the rules for Crowe need an update to reflect this fluff.

***minor spoiler warning***

Disclaimer, I know GW doesn't always write their rules to their books.

1. The Blade Antwyr is sharp and definitely cuts through armor, stone, Heavy hide, etc. So it should have some ap. Thinking ap-3
2. When crowe is first getting used to fighting using antwyr, he notices that it is heavier and it swings harder than the more graceful nemesis force sword. So +1 strength but 1w attacks.
3. The Blade demonstrates in Warden of the Blade what happens when a mortal actually uses the blade... A fun fluff rule could also be that if crowe dies in close combat, the opponent who killed him gets to use antwyr to its fullest potential, bringing a litany of buffs but gains the demon keyword.
4. The sentient presence of antwyr is a drain on all others around as it mentally taunts and tempts everyone. Maybe roll a d6 each turn to see if crowe has a -1ld aura that applies to gk and opponents? (Doesn't affect demons)
5. Crowe is technically also the captain of the purifiers. He should gain a purifier only aura buff.

What do you think?

The fact that the sword wasn't even considered a power sword to begin with was silly.

I like what they did with the Djinn blade for DE. Roll a D6 after they attack, takes a MW on a 1
That and make it a MC power sword with extra damage or +1S, maybe strength so he'd be S6 and can wound most infantry on 2s

That should solve the sword part

Quite frankly it's stupid he goes out into battle with this dangerous sword. He just needs to be removed

Should be a power sword at the very least. But that would somewhat diminish it, methinks. Rather the blade should have a psychic card deck dedicated to its abilities, since it has such powerful psychic effects, with a corresponding dice roll for Crowe's measured response. In a way the sword of antwyr behaves as if it is a character in and of itself. So the Crowe mini is actually 2 characters.

Sounds like another randumb table, which could be fine, though not consistent.

From the start Crowe was always a crap character, and people only took him so they could have Purifiers as troops.

For the weapon, I'd perhaps include a rule along the lines of: When this model fights, roll 2D6. If you roll equal or under his Leadership you count the weapon as a Nemesis Sword, otherwise it's a standard CCW.

Unfortunately, their attempt to show that Crowe doesn't use the full power of the Black Blade means for some bizarre reason that they give it a basic CCW profile, even though, as you mentioned, as a baseline entity it does plenty of damage by itself. Just make it a MC power sword and then throw some extra rules regarding the blade's aura and that should be good enough IMO. Keep it simple.

6s to hit deal a mortal wound to the enemy, but on 1s to hit Crowe deals a mortal wound to himself.

I dont know about 1 to himself. He holds the demon at bay really well.. but 6s = mw would be awesome with his current set.

I really like the fluff and idea of this guy. They found a sword so dangerous that in order to imprison the sword they have to keep the sword and tie the fate of one to the other.

He is an awesome character in the books.

He used to have a rule that gave him AP2 (old system) base. So it didn't matter Antwyr counted as a base weapon.

Then shouldn't it behaves more like a thunder hammer? something like -1 to hit but extra strength and damage?

It's still a sword. He still wields it well and like a sword. It is heavier, but not described like a thunder hammer. I think having crowe fighting at str5 ap-2 or 3 would actually make him a really good cc character.

He's basically the same as other duelist characters that only kill chaff. A regular Champ has FAR more utility due to getting access to any Warlord Traits and a lot of relics.

This is also why I think crowe should have a purifier only buff. Something like a smite buff? Something to rep him being the leader of them. The dude is AWESOME in the fluff.
