Let's talk about the rules. Is your squint game on point?

AoR says "it must not include any Specialist Detachments". If I recall there is no designation I presume Patrol/Battalion/Brigade only, right?

Has anyone else been able to process the rules? Nothing stood out as broken to me.

Mechanicus AoR- Breachers, Destroyers, Servitors, and Robots get Extremis Sentinel Protocols, which -- prevents any dogmas ( so no strats and traits and such ), gives it -1D, and the better overwatch/melee when charged.

WLT gives obsec. Extremis = +1 model. So it seems like you'd need to fill troops with kataphron, maybe fulgurites, and some robots? So much stuff is Skitarii that the list is ridiculously limited. Flyers are game, too, but seems pretty limited. You can make the kataphron fire into combat w/o penalty for 2/3CP.

DG AoR - No VEHICLE, no Morty, must be Harbingers, if Typhus is in he must be WL, but gets an extra trait. You can deepstrike, but...you still have to pay an EXTRA CP to do it ( 2/3/4 instead of 1/2/3 ). WL trait is turn off obsec and actions w/i 3" when the enemy is LD7 or lower. There is a tide for Pox ( even destroyed units - neat ), a few really great spells, and some decent relics. I won't detail everything unless people that haven't read goonhammer are curious.

As I read through it looks like GW is encouraging a form of soup. Metalica can CP a Raven knight to get canticles and in Raven there is a trait to allow repairs from Metalica. This might have implications for Chaos. ( I think Raven lovers will enjoy this book )

Sounds to me like that the two factions probably work together in the narrative, so that had rules to work together in the book.

I wouldn't really look too deep in the meaning of this, or expect this sort of soup treatment moving forward. It'll be heavily dependent on the narrative of future books.

Wolfspear's 2k
Harlequins 2k
Chaos Knights 2k
Spiderfangs 2k
Ossiarch Bonereapers 1k

Good point.

Specialist Detachments were found in the Vigilus books, for example, the Servitor Maniple that let you resurrect Kataphrons, or give them a 5++ invuln save.

The 2020 Grand Tournament Mission Pack doesnt allow for Specialist Detachments either, but some people still use them if the mission allows. I assume the authors didnt want you to be able to stack the benefits from a Servitor Maniple or Cybernetica Cohort with the Army of Renown benefits.

So you aren't limited to patrol/battalion/brigade. For that matter you coulndt make a brigade, as all our Fast Attack units are Skitarii.

Hmm, ok, a potential failsafe then, I guess. I was looking at them being "dead", but I suppose for backward compatibility it is only fair since not everyone is matched play.

You can still take those detachments in matched just fine, just not in organized play, right? Seriousely asking because I 'm not sure about the wording. Nobody in my group has the Grand tournament book, because we don't care about that way to play, but we all do matched (and narrative).

You can do whatever you like, but you might find opponents complaining if you use something like Cohort on top of the Robot AoR.
