So Aetolians on the refused flank, Pike hold the center, and the strike arm tries to break and turn a flank.

This looks like a fun army, and fairly easy to paint. What do you think?

I already messed up thinking I could run x6 Spartiates, but I can only run 4 Also needs to add in 2-4 Psiloi to Spartans...LI, Bow x2 I suppose.

Spartan-led Hellenistic armies must replace all their Theurophoroi with Pikemen, so the three in your third command can't be taken.

The maximum number of mounted in the army is 5 (2 Cv + 3 LH). That means the Aetolian ally can only have 2 LH, as the maxima for an ally is 1/2 the normal maxima, rounded down.

8 Pikemen probably need more than those 2 LF to screen them from enemy shooting as well !

The army kinda needs to control terrain and move first. Having Army Command value of 2 is a bit dicy for achieving this

Thanks, I am a little confused. I might have misread, but Aetolians can have Thurophoroi though I might have to take out the two in the Strike command, I thought the Spartans used Mercs, Like Thracians, or Illyrians. I'll give it annother go.

I agree this army has an uphill climb, but hey Spartans are tough! They can handle it!

I may end up painting enough to run several versions of Hellenistic armies...the Achaen league looks very interesting to me.

An included Briliant General is asking for trouble - he can die, costing you a lot of army losses, or he can get engaged in melle which wastes his command and control immediately

He'd be better as non-included Competent than included Brilliant, but with 2 spare points I'm sure you can find a way to make him non-included Brilliant if needed.

Sounds good.
