Hey guys. Which of these armies has a lower model count? Which can be more versatile in the way it plays?

I've not seen many of the new death guard rules.

Um.

I think you can probably build Death Guard in more different ways. They can flood the board with 100+ Poxwalkers, if that's what you want to do.

Or you could play a super-elite list with Mortarion and a few Terminator-friends. Maybe a PBC.

Or a lot in between.

However, once you build your list, most Death Guard lists probably have a fairly static game plan for each game, that you won't change up drastically for most games (unless you change the list).

Harlequins on the other hand don't really have list variety. It's boats and troupes with a little variety on how you equip characters and taking a few more or a few less bikes.

But that list is probably a little more flexible in-game, due to speed. It can sit back and/or skirt around the edges and play super-cagey. Or it can try to rush some opponents on some missions and try to overwhelm and outscore them through board-control before getting tabled.

Also, how does your poll work? If I, for example, would think Death Guard are more elite and Harlequins more versatile (or vice versa), what do I click, lol

You maybe correct. I'm just trying to figure out which army that would be best to suit what I'm after. Which is smaller unit count as I really don't want to paint hundreds of models and that I can perhaps mix up how I play from time to time

My vote goes to DG.
Very resilient and hard to shift - exactly what's needed in the 9th ed.

Well, Death Guard is definitely the far easier army to paint.

Gameplay aside, Harlequins is usually an army people pick for a painting challenge. Even if you don't go for diamonds, the models are tiny and full of fragile details.

That said, the gold standard of easy-to-paint, versatile-to-play are still Marines. Get a DIY colour-scheme for those Primaris boys and they're doing Iron Hands today, White Scars tomorrow, etc...

Death Guard has the best variety, due to the range being significantly bigger. even if you wanted to restrict yourself with a low model count army you can still go down a couple of different routes; Mortarian, mass deamon engine or mass terminators. (Or all 3 mixed)

You may also want to consider Custodes? Although to get the most out of them you need pricey forgeworld models.

Dunno about that. The DG models have lots of fiddly little details. If you don't indulge the excessive check patterns, Harlies are often straightforward. I've seen some rather nice solid colors on Harlequin models.

The biggest problem is the tactical rock 'dynamic' posing and overall lack of unit variety and choices.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Agree with most others here - while harlequins are very flexible once they hit the table, they really don't have much in ways of changing their army compositions. The bulk of your army will never be anything but troupes, transports, bikes and characters.

DG on the other hand have many ways of building and changing their army, but once you have deployed your army, you will not be able to make vast adjustments to your general strategy.

I don't think there is a huge difference in model count unless you go heavy on poxwalkers (and those are quick to paint), the difference is more of whether you want an agile but fragile force or a wrecking ball.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
