New to AoS, bought into Skaven and i like what Pestilens is doing (nobody in my area is hyper competitive so i dont care about minmaxing, in fact i'd rather avoid that)

But i am super confused how listbuilding works in AoS, and i cant really ask for help locally because everyone else plays elves/seraphon/stormcast and they work differently. The whole allegiance/allies thing doesnt feel explained very well, since when i think im finally getting it i find another rule or comment that throws everything upside down again.

From what i understand, to gain the Great Plague prayer benefits i need to swear to Clan Pestilens, and in order to do that i need to have only Clan Pestilens units, right? Looking around online though i'd see lists that involve non-clan pestilen units, but still claim to be sworn to Clan Pestilens so i was getting extremely confused how this works.
Apparently these lists were flagging gutterrunners, clanrats, seers, etc as Allies, but some discord chatting is telling me i cant ally skaven like that?

How exactly does Allegiance/Allies work? I'm normally pretty good that deciphering rules but man...my head hurts this time. I'm not asking specifically "gimmie a list" but more "how do i make a list this way?"

What i have atm (since people always ask in threads like this):
1 Plaguefurnace (+1 more unassembled i'm debating on bell or another furnace)
1 Verminlord Corruptor
3 Plague Priests
3 Seers
3 Bombardiers
1 Deathmaster
40 Monks
20 Plague Censor Bearers
80 Clanrats (40 spears 40 swords)
1 Plagueclaw
1 Lightning Cannon (i assembled this before realizing i really should have gone for 3 plagueclaws, derp)

edit: Nevermind, im looking too deep into this apparently. Skaventide is what i swear to and the general affects what my battlelines are, im not actually swearing to Clan Pestilens specifically like i thought i was.
