Getting ready to get back into the fray. Thus a 9e newbie, but been playing since 4e.

I have the DA Supplement but I'm not finding the DeathWing specifics that I have been familiar with since 4e. This post is less about the fine tuning of my list's composition, but making sure what I'm including is legal to run as DeathWing without losing anything. Do the 8e hang ups with not-quite-the-right faction inclusion still exist in these new books? Which I'm beginning to think is no longer a thing with 9e (I have the new Drukhari codex, too).

The simple list:
Asmodai
Interrogator Chaplin T armor

Deathwing Terminators x10 Pfist & SB
Deathwing Terminators assault, mix of LC & TH/SS
Deathwing Terminators x10 Pfist & SB

DW Command. Squad
DW Command. Squad
DW Command. Squad
Ravenwing Apothecary
DW Ancient
Deathwing Champion

I want to include an Ancient, but there is no DW/Termie Ancient unit/model. The Rites of Initiation only allow for Lt. & Captain. Can I include a power armor flag bearing model as an Ancient (clown in a gown), and still have all the DeathWing fun? If yes, would someone please lemme know what page & section has that allowance?

How about a power armored Apothecary? Can he hang with all these Tactical Dreadnought Armored dudes and not spoil the rules? I mean, I'm looking for the place where it would say *if* Deathwing rules get trashed when PowerArmor shows up.

I know Asmodai has the DW keyword, so he's not an issue.

Still reading back and forth as I'm composing this post.

Thanks in advance!

Ancient in Terminator armour is in the SM codex (pg 148) and comes with the Deathwing keyword so keeps your detachment intact. The only apothecaries you can include are the Deathwing and Ravenwing ones (RW has Inner Circle keyword), any others will break your detachment bonuses.

Bullyboy,
Thanks for quick reply.

Found it, thanks.

But, damn it! Now this means I have to pack that heavy book around tourneys, too!

I have the power armor model, metal, and he's a solid piece. I can't break the torso off the legs and reattached to a bike. Gonna need a saw.

Hold on! The Ravenwing Black Knights kit gives you options for a Ravenwing Apothecary.

All you have to do is fire three rounds a minute, and stand

Good catch. The GW page has it called the Ravenwing Comd. Squad. Of course, availability these days ... my power armored apothecary will live intact, for now.

For what its worth, you can also build the Ravenwing Champion from that box. He has Inner Circle so he can give you a mobile character killer in your Deathwing list. He can also take the Reliquary Invul-debuff relic.

I took a pair of bolt-cutters to a metal Librarian the night before my first 8th Edition tourney to make a Librarian on a bike. And then that model went to Legends...Keep your normal Apothecary!

Good advice. At this point, I'm even keeping my old Lelith Hesperax, even though the metal model has been replaced with a better plastic sculpt.
