Seems like. There's an established fanbase and fastest way to get more eyes on it, than the slow build with direct webstore or patreon I guess.
Though as seen with some of the other KS it's a double edge sword, granted these are more 40k-flavored space romans than direct copies...of nearly non-existent assets. I don't even know what ruleset these guys would be used in. 30k? Terminators?

I'm not backing, but wish the creators posted larger images; way to undersell their own product details.

Don't forget that there's another side to it as well:
If it gets enough eyes on, GW's almost guaranteed to take some kind of action and they'll basically be guaranteed free money as the GW hatecrowd jump on Patreon!

From those photos it looks like they're using FW's chain axes and heavy flamers.

Backed for $1, to get the add-on Psychic Wasp.

I could see a campaign using a Psychneuein somewhere...
