What would you be interested in seeing that would make you want to pay for it and it what proportion?
I can’t really think of anything other than animated stories that I’d be interested in. Paint guides are all over YouTube and so are indexes, codex reviews, battle reviews which are all stuff I’m not interested in.
So if you were planning the VOD service what would you put in it?

They could put on all the Black Library audio books. That would be quite a large chunk of content straight off the bat and would be likely to appeal to the same kind of audience. I would be surprised if they didn't bundle a 40K: The App subscription with Warhammer+. I can also see them giving exclusive "perks" to Warhammer+ subscribers like recasts of older models from their archives, limited edition models, subscription to Warhammer Live and their archive of past content, access to an electronic archive of old white dwarf issues, exclusive interviews and behind the scenes, discount coupons etc. All of that would require relatively little effort as it draws on already created content.
If the VOD technology is provided by another party I'm also wondering if it would get you access to that content, with Warhammer+ effectively acting as an upgrade package. E.g. You get Disney+ as well as Warhammer+ but the price tag is higher than Disney's.
Longer term it would be possible for them to have rules (eCodexes, supplements etc.) available as part of the subcription and have them automatically updated with changes. That might well be the future but I doubt they'll do it near launch, I think they are too attached to selling books still and they have also abandoned producing eCodexes with the release of the App.

What I expect is very dependent on the price point they choose.
I’d want to see 1-2 hours of fresh content weekly. If they want to drop it in chunks to binge, that’s fine. But I’d want the equivalent of 2-3 half hour shows a week. With the occasional feature length (hour+) level thing.
Now one perk they have here is that I’m a fan of the setting. So unlike a service like Netflix, where I have to sift through children’s shows and rom-coms to find the stuff I want to watch, Warhammer+ is pretty laser focused. That said, if they start releseing duds that even my fanboy self can’t stomach, things get worse.
Now without a back library of shows, the opening is going to be rough. Adding the Black Library would help a lot. I’m not a huge fan of audio books, but if I had access to them, I might put one on while I paint, or listen while doing mindless things at work. Bonus points if they have the books play over a slideshow of GW art.
Pie in the sky dream is that this is a one-stop shop for all access. All digital content, including modern rules and codexes, updated FAQs, unlocks both 40k/AoS apps, all for a reasonable price. But I suspect that if they did go with this level of content, it would be priced crazy stupid high. I’d rather spend money on minis.

TBH, there's nothing that they can realistically produce that will entice me, unless it's also very cheap.
Everything I can realistically see them producing either I don't need/want, or can already get elsewhere for cheaper and/or better.

The very least they need to do is launch with a lot of content. If I can binge all the stuff in a week or two there's not really any incentive to resub later. I'm sceptical that the quality will be there even with what they do have and I'm not sure there's much else they could add in to entice me. The app is terrible and I'd much rather use BS so having that bundled with the sub wouldn't help. Maybe rules access, but realistically I only really care about paying for rules for my own armies and that ship has now sailed.
I'm having a really hard time figuring out how GW can offer something really good at a reasonable price point.

Well, I guess my only answer would be plenty of new content. And at a constant rate.
If they want my $$$? Then animated or Live-Action, they'd need to supply me with about 5 hours of content per week.
I doubt this'll happen.
I've zero interest in digital gaming material, bat-reps, audio books, etc bundled into this.

Not sure.
Content aside, do we have confidence GW can support this over time?
Many people subscribe to streaming services to watch one thing without using it again. Because the service is cheap, they don't think about the cost over the course of a year or two.
I'd hate to pay for a year of streaming service that launches with some fancy animations but doesn't offer anything compelling afterwards.

My concern as well.
I think for me, it will be VERY price dependent, but assuming it launches at a price I'm ok with, it then also depends on whether or not they are supplying the creators with proper teams, or simply telling them to work as they always have. If they have been supplied with proper teams, I'd like to see something on the order of Astartes, but built out into longer episodes. Doesn't even have to be a full 30min per episode, but long enough that it feels like a full-length show.
If they are NOT building up proper teams and it's a situation where people like the Astartes creator are still working as "One-man-bands" then I would want to see them get a ton more of them so that I'm not watching 2 minutes of content every few weeks and waiting.
For me, I'd like to see more things in that vein than in the "anime" style of a lot of the other pieces. Nothing wrong with anime per se, it's just not my cup of tea. I could also be convinced to watch that live action Eisenhorn they teased two years ago, but I'm a little skeptical how well you can pull that off on the budget they likely have.
EDIT:
Was just looking at an old Paul Sawyer White Dwarf and had a thought. If they could get a couple shows together that sort of embody the feel of those "Fat Bloke Era" WDs, I could start to get excited for it. "This week we're scratch building terrain on lunch breaks", this week we're following a campaign on the studio's new trench system board, etc etc. I could see myself getting into that. Maybe ...

Heh.
This is going to sound silly, but I've always felt Paul Bonner was the best 40k artist. He drew Orks in the 'Ere We Go era and those pictures have always stuck with me.
Were Warhammer+ to feature something with that kind of character, there's a good chance it would get me to subscribe. I also realize that's setting the bar very high, there's a kind of atmosphere that would be expensive to reproduce.

I want an animated version of this:
Aaron Dembski-Bowden wrote:
For years now, I've wanted to write a Romeo & Juliet style story in Commorragh. Not so much about the romance, but the "Two households, both alike in dignity (In fair Commorragh, where we lay our scene). From ancient grudge break to new mutiny..."
Two ancient warring Dark Eldar houses trying to murder one another, while two of their scions try to work together to screw over all their other relatives and go their own way, making their own warband.
It would sell exactly three copies, and I'd be fired for the graphic scenes of torture/evil romance, etc. but it'd be a killer story if I could pull it off.
Anything less is a dealbreaker.

This right here is the #1 thing. Any $$$ I spend on this is less $$$ spent on miniatures.
Minis are the main reason I like 40k in the first place. It's nice to see stuff larger than life, but between homies & myself we have a pretty decent collection of minis we can use to recreate any spectacle in the lore I want, independent of the studio.
While I'm hopeful for something Necromunda or Gorkamorka, I'm less so that any of it will nail the respective environments.
Does anyone really think we will see true grimdarkness or are they gonna choke on?

My main concern is that in order to keep providing content they will fill it up of videos of people who work for GW telling you how great their products are by reviewing their own stuff or doing reveals. And then battle reports and just stuff they can do easily in house.
But some people might like this that’s why I started the thread.
Do you think they could provide anything in terms of painting guides that’s better than what’s out there at the minute by independent you tubers?

No for the same reason they won't ever do the "scratch built terrain over a lunch break" thing I mentioned. Unless they undergo a pretty big paradigm shift, they will be stuck using GW products and painting in the " GW way" similar to what you currently see in their YouTube vids. They honestly aren't bad. Especially if you're a beginner, but I'd be surprised if we saw them doing "Demonrich" style demos, or demos in the style of any of the higher-end, advanced YouTubers. Since everything they do has to be a commercial of some sort for everything they sell, they are kind of trapped in their own ecosystem.
UNLESS they let go of that a bit and get back to the spirit they had in days past ....

To get me to pay for it, they world need to dump the subscription model and just charge a nominal fee per product, like Google Play does.
Regardless of the amount of content, I have zero interest in adding another subscription service when I already have Disney+ and Amazon, and even less interest in a subscription for such a limited range of content.

I would love to see a surreal series where a character psychically explores the realms of chaos (so the show is in first person) and the animation style is designed to emulate John Blanche's art.
a mind bending Hieronymus Bosch madness.
I'd love to see something specifically in a Madhouse anime style around the eldar, entirely on a craftworld. Characters learning their path, warriors gaining super natural abilities as they focus their psyche on the path of the warrior.
Then them going to war and brining to it back with them, the difficulty of keeping the war mask between the horrors and their life etc.
I'd like to see a series about a Harlequin troop in the style of Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo, with the stylised cloth patterns emphasised.
I'd like to see a Deff Squadron series with the shenanigans of Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines, but animated more like Macross.
