Hi all,

When I am painting or making models I love to watch 40k/ other miniature games/hobby channels.

Just putting a list of channels I watch (I watch all their content and it is not enough lol).

I wish to know more good ones if you all can post them please!

I was thinking If I make a post it will be easy for me to reference, please post YouTube links.

1. Miniwargaming (fun banter, awesome narrative campaigns, regular content, am lifetime vault member because is so good): https://www.youtube.com/user/miniwargaming/videos

2. Tabletop Tactics (fun banter, awesome painted models, sad bone is leaving): https://www.youtube.com/user/tabletoptactics/videos

3. Luetin90 (Lore channel, great voice, fun info, I usually go to sleep listening to his content (that or an audible 40k title) and then re-listen to him when painting, I especially love his background on races, content etc): https://www.youtube.com/user/Luetin09/videos

4. StrikingScorpion82 (fun banter, good batreps, great painted models): https://www.youtube.com/user/StrikingScorpion82/videos

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

Great choices there.
Tabletop Tactics is my staple due to the personalities of the presenters and quality of reports (I don't like just top down approach).
Been watching a lot of squidmar recently, has interesting topics.
SS82 always goes the extra mile in terrain which draws me into his videos.
MWG is a bit of a miss for me mostly, not sure why but mostly I don't find the presenters interesting enough.

Table Top Tactics, Are awesome, the spider, the beard and the bone (my favs), chef, you are ok but you no barber....(or butcher for bone or whatever a spider has lol.....)

Totally agree with SS82 he does mad stuff with terrain and is always an entertaining watch.

MWG is hit and miss (depends on presenters) but 80% of the time is good constant fun (their narrative campaigns are the best seen, 100% time for me anyway)

Squid does some great stuff, just wish would spend more time showing us final etc (like when did shots of his Thunderhawk, was like 30secs of finished shots rest was pans and crap of himself and smoke at the end I mean).

The best lore channel out there. He does them in-character which gives them almost the feel of a radio play (some episodes straight up are that).

It's very, very good.

Skari (SkaredCast) has a Drukhari crusade called "Rise of a Kabal" on YouTube, but I haven't managed to watch any yet.

Great stuff mentioned, particularly Tabletop Tactics.

I also watch Auspex Tactics for news and analysis, and Kirioth TV for 40k/AoS banter.

It's actually Matt that generally makes me turn off the video, just personal taste. I guess that's why it's good that there are choices.

When doing hobby stuff I usually put on Lets Plays or Speedruns in the background, but I know of some wargame/hobby stuff not mentioned yet:

Tabletop Minions: The host gives his personal insights on tabletop games and sometimes does paint streams and the like.
https://www.youtube.com/user/tabletopminions

Adeptus Ridiculous: Actually a podcast but they put their stuff on youtube too. One guy teaching the basics of 40k lore to someone else. Though at its most basic level and he gets stuff wrong now and then in his rush to try to cover everything. Still, its a fun listen and they sometimes do fun stuff like a read along of the "All Guardsman Party" tales while getting increasingly drunk.

Just stumbled across Baldemort recently, and, if you're into lore, I can absolutely second the motion that his channel is awesome. Great writing, incredible voice. Super solid content.

Agree with almost everything everyone else has listed too. Especially Table Top Tactics. They are my personal "Gold Standard" for batreps. Table Top Titans are a close second, but sometimes the questions they answer in-game distract a bit from the game itself for me. That's the nitiest of nit-picks though.

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

So here are my go to channels organised by category (because im drunk and have nothing better to do):-

Lore: Leutin09 (i may have misspelled that)
Undoubtedly the single greatest channel for information on the 40k universe regardless of if you are a long time vet like me or a complete newbie. If you have any interest in finding out more about the background of 40k, this is where you go.

Painting: Squidmar and Duncan Rhodes Painting Academy. Both these channels have helped my approach to painting considerably through their concise and easily understood presentation styles.

Gaming/battle report: (Narrative)
Miniwargaming and Winters S.E.O.

While both these channels tend to run matched play games, for a fan of narrative based games these are great. Looking for a great story based 40k game that does'nt venture too far from the matched play standard? Winters is your man.

Interested in ongoing campaigns or other "off the wall" selections (such as BFG) Miniwargaming has got you covered. Both these channels have very personable presenters who don't take things too seriously and just have fun.

Gaming/Battle report (competitive)
Skaredcast. While I dont play drukhari myself, i have learnt a lot from Skari (also, he is running an ongoing crusade which is a lot of fun).

General hobby/model related chitchat:

Kirioth. Possibly the most calming voice on all of youtube, and seemingly a Genuinely Nice Chap* this is my go to channel for just listening to general opinions of new models, old models and all sorts of other stuff.

Humor/Nostalgia:
Snipe and Wib.
While maybe not to everybody's taste, very funny. Their "Codex Compliant" series where they review years old 40k offerings is excellent.

Game mechanics.
Want to know about how stuff actually works in the game? 2 words. Auspex Tactics.
A man unfathomably able to produce a video on any given 40k community article within 90mins of it going live. Definitely getting better at the monotone delivery, still suffering from the "raising pitch of voice at end of every sentnce" issue. absolutley knows his stuff when it comes to the nitty gritty of rules.

Guerrilla Miniature Games (Design discussions and casual battle reports for lots of systems)

Hellstorm Wargaming (Design discussions and memes)

Invasive Wargaming (Memes)

Miscast (game design, mini and terrain sculpting)

Play On Tabletop (Casual battle reports)

SkaredCast (Competitive guides, comp and casual battle reports)

StrikingScorpion82 (Casual battle reports)

Tabletop Tactics (Design discussions, comp and casual battle reports)

TableTopGuard (Competitive guides and memes)

Twisted Dice (Aceface a competitive Tyranids player produces content for the channel, they also do some livestreams and stuff)

Vanguard Tactics (Competitive guides, discussions and battle reports)

Encounter Wargaming (Terrain)

Forge The Narrative (40k hypemen podcast)

Zorpazorp (Terrain)

Super Wargamer (Necron design discussion and 3d modelling)

The Glacial Geek (Design discussion, comp and casual battle reports)

winters SEO (casual battle reports)

Not subbed to DiceCheck but MagikarpUsedFly is pretty fun, they've done an intro series on their experience getting into the hobby but they're still new so I don't like their design discussions.

I am also subbed to small number of roleplay and boardgame channels that are in the same genre of video.

I'll never get that, why English spoken with a UK accent is harder for Germans than with an American accent.

We have so much slang and nuance compared to the Brits. Thought it would be easier.

In absence of other sources or preferences, "Hollywood english" is a common source of english language exposure for many, I suppose. If it sounds like a Star Wars or MCU movie, most Germans with a preference towards some nerd hobby (and no specific life experience, i.e. having lived or worked or travelled in the UK or Australia or some such) will probably experience that as "default" english.

Hmm, to me british english is always harder to understand than american english. I wouldn't say it's because of hollywood necessarily, but then again when I made my exams 14years ago I watched Star Trek DS9 because I found that pretty easy to understand, even back then when I didn't know anything else. I think it's just a clearer pronounciation if you don't take some strong texan slang or similar.
Bones from TTS is pretty tough to understand, too, because he speaks very fast, often joking and pretty quiet.

Thanks for this- I subscribed to the channel and watched the first battle- it was sweet to see two 25 PL forces play a full five turns- reading Dakka, sometimes it sounds like all games end turn two, and small games suck. Quite the opposite, from what I saw. I'm halfway through the 2nd video; there was a fight in between, which they didn't film- kind of unfortunate, but what ever. I might hit him up through Patreon to request more Crusade- he hasn't posted a Crusade update in a while; those vids don't get the same hit counts as the ones geared toward competitive optimization, so I get it. But maybe I can twist his arm.

I've watched some German batreps, even though I can barely speak the language.

There's something to watching without knowing what the speaker is saying. After about 10 minutes, I pick up on most of what they're trying to get across.

40k is a universal.
