So my new puppy decided he can reach the top of the living room table…

By the Emperor, I hope he's okay! That plastic can be sharp if he actually ate it. Hopefully you just got a new "extremely weathered" model

LOL…. He chewed it up pretty good and broke a few bits off, but I was able to save it. He didn’t get to actually ingest anything but if I didn’t catch him I’m sure he would have

First off, adorable little guy.
Secondly: it seems like you should go do some more stuff with him so that he doesn't get stupid ideas.
Thirdly: adorable little guy.

Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

I don't think you can do enough stuff with puppies to prevent stupid ideas happening
IF anything if you tried chances are you'd end up inventing the stupid ideas to start with

I lost a genestealer years ago to a young husky - again a similar story of a mangled monster and quick rescue.

My wife and I moved separately one time(she moved to the new place with our stuff and I cleaned and cleared our old house) and she didn't understand why I kept my minis so high on my bookshelf. So when she unpacked stuff she put some on a lower shelf.

My Weimaraner had a great time with her new plastic toys. We spent probably around $500 combined on replacing minis/vet bill. fortunately she seemed to just chew and if she did swallow they couldn't find anything.

Nice biotitan!

My old dog looked funny at my doods but was never really phased by them. She was a good girl!

Thanks for all the great responses, everyone. He is a great dog, he is just in that “what does this taste like?” Phase. I have to remember that puppies experience the world through their teeth and taste buds

Ouch!

Failed invuln save? Glad to hear the reanimation protocols worked for once. Thought the new rules sucked but apparently not...

Also, what is the Power Level of an adorable puppy?

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

A few years back my cousins had a lab puppy that was just getting tall enough to see onto the table if he stood up with his paws on the table leg.

So we're playing a 15mm WWII minis game & something at the far end of the table catches our attention....
Looking over we're just in time to spot a pair of puppy eyes.
Realizing he'd been spotted the puppy decides to take what he can get. His toungue shot out & a panzer IV disappeared.

Before either of us could reach him, crunch crunch gulp & off he ran....

My cousin: "Well it's not the worst thing he's eaten this week."

The panzer? Gone.
The puppy? Perfectly fine. And eventually grew out of/was broken of his steal-stuff-from-table phase.

Yeah, we know some folks with Labs. One of them had to have surgery three separate times because of his sock fetish. Seems the fella just loved the taste

Somewhere in Canada

We never had problems with the dog eating or chewing models, but she was oblivious of her tail.

Our house used to frequently ring with the chanted refrain of "TAIL AWARENESS!"

Good times... RIP Bluedog!

Oh lab tales time!

Got a few from our old lab way back when I was young and growing up

1) Tights. When we were young we used to go to this little bridge over a tidal bit of river which was semi-famous (local tourist spot) for having lots of crabs. Families would turn up, buy a crabbing reel and do some crabbing, popping them back after and then leaving.
We did it differently. See if you got a pair of tights and cut them in half (one leg per half) you could then put a rock and some back into the bottom and tie some rope around the top. Now you've a trap that the crabs can't get the meat off and will snip and hold onto thus letting you hoist them up*.

Can you see where this is going right - lab finds bacon stuffed tight and - lab eats! He was thankfully caught with the end of the tights hanging out of his mouth and my father was able to pull it free; much to the dogs disgruntlement.

2) Doughnut were placed upon a table - we were all summoned for doughnut treats - however upon arrival there were no more doughnuts left upon the table!

3) Stealing the carving knife after it was used to cut up some meat. Thankfully another swift spot and retrieval before any damage was done (he'd thankfully grabbed the blunt end).

Labs - fantastic dogs, but darn it are they greedy eating machines

Only (in our experience) matched by huskies; who might be far more selective in what they steal; but are also far more game to leap up - grab and run off with a leg of lamb if you so much as turn your back for 5 seconds!

* In retrospect it was probably rather mean to deny the crabs their bacon!

I never had a pet do this, but one time I fell down the steps with my army and dropped it upside down. Broke nearly every model. Spent weeks fixing them.

Good stories, Overread. We also have the little guy’s uncle. He is large for the breed and can take things off the kitchen island and from the counters up against the backsplashes. Don’t know how many times the other remainders of dinner found their way into his belly. Everything goes in the oven or the top of the refrigerator these days…

A while ago I put a load of FW Guard tanks in a case ready for an Apoc game. The dog my GF was looking after decided to attack the case (but didn't actually get into it) - GF was too scared to open it in case anything was broken (but the dog couldn't care less).

Has anyone ever opened the case since?!

Yes, and it wasn't too bad - some superglue was required but the case did it's job! One of the benefits of being (somewhat) honest to your SO about what things cost is they generally try to not brake any of it (unless they're upset with you).

Wheaten Terrier puppy grabbed and ran off with my Squig mangler (was just within reach, my error). I mean, you can't blame the boy, it does just look like 2 orange balls tied together! Anyway, I was amazed to find zero damage....He just wanted me to chase him, not actually chew the model. Now, I'm a little more cautious (as I have a 10 month puppy right now).

Puppies also need to be trained to know bounds because doing so later will be much harder and you DON'T want a spoiled dog who does whatever he wants as it will cease to be cute soon. And that's not even considering potential bills later.

I have an 80lb German Shephard and Rottweiler mix, and she is 2 years old.

Thankfully she didnt stay in the "chew everything to pieces" phase for long, we were able to get her trained out of it fairly quickly until today.

Today, I did a 24 hour slow smoked prime brisket smoked in hickory and mesquite. I brought it in, and it rested for 2 hours prior to serving.

My guests loved it, but it was a 20lb brisket, so we had leftovers, until Sadie came inside from playing.

I turned my back for ten minutes, and just like that, no more brisket. I now have a VERY lethargic doggo sleeping happily while I clean up grease on the floor. I guess it smelled better than her training.
