IIRC, an episode of Magnum P.I. featured the local game store's owner's 25mm Napoleonic Austrian Army. Of course it was supposed to be Higgins' collection, and he was solo gaming (again, IIRC), when Magnum entered the room for whatever the plot called for.

GW definitely missed a trick by not getting some product placement in The Big Bang Theory...

I find that BBT isn't really about geeks so much as it is just about Sheldon. A huge number of the puns are either Sheldon acting odd or other characters presuming what odd things Sheldon would do.

Sure, but they have had the guys playing a lot of board games, video games and RPGs over the years. Dungeons & Dragons, Risk, Halo, Age Of Conan, etc etc... I don't know whether these were paid-for product placements or just the writers using real products for authenticity though...
They missed an opportunity to get meta. Zombicide Rue Morgue had homage characters clearly modeled off of the BBT cast. They could have played that version of Zombicide and made snide comments about how ludicrous these homage characters were. And the Sheldon figure was one of the promos in Zombicide Season 1 (the original).

Peter Cushing, mostly known to people of my generation as Grand Moff Tarkin, was a miniature gamer. The short video below shows him painting, then playing with his minis.
