So... interesting thought... what do people think?

January FAQs clarified that Eldar can fire and fade into vehicles, even though embarking is supposed to happen in movement phase, and the strat occurs in shooting. The clarification being that the strat states 'as if in the movement phase'.

Well, the same logic can be applied to flyers which can fly off the board 'in the movement phase'.

By this logic, there's no reason we can't fly a crimson hunter on, shoot, and then fire and fade it back off the board and return on the next turn.

Has anybody else thought about doing this? I'm sure other armies have access to similar strats too.

I thought the rules also stated if a Flyer was ever forced to move less than its minimum move, it would immediately crash and burn.
Thus making Fire and Fade suicide, as it locks the flyer into a 6" movement.

Unless it's within 6" of the board edge maybe?

Or simply you can't use it on a flyer?

See FAQ:

*Page 119 – Stratagems, Fire and Fade
Change the first sentence to read:
‘You can use this Stratagem after an Asuryani unit from your
army (excluding Aircraft) shoots in your Shooting phase.’

Yeah, have since learned that it has been FAQ’d.

Though were it not for that, the rules state that in a battle forged army, if a flyer can’t make its min move, it is moved into reserve.

Or has that also been changed in an FAQ?

If you can't do your minimum move without crossing the battle edge, then you got into strat reserve yeah.

It's part of the core rules (page 212).

Now... what if you can't do either your min/max move and can't fly off the board? Well... probably you'll be destroyed, but you'll need a very long table for that xD
