Our thoughts on the Battle Systems Fantasy Roads & Rivers set, although they could be used for more than just fantasy.

https://thegrumpygnome.home.blog/2021/08/06/review-battle-systems-fantasy-roads-rivers/

We like the roads, especially after a couple minor modifications. The rivers, not so much.

What are your thoughts on them? And Battle Systems cardstock terrain in general?

Mrs. GG and I quite like the Sci-Fi terrain but the Fantasy terrain has not caught our imagination the same way the Sci-Fi has.

I got the pack recently too (on my blogand also did a review/some pictures of it). I love your idea of putting a wash over the road because a direct photo does have a lot of glare off the road. And I can see why they cover up the sides with bushes to make it fade into the ground more.

The river side is a bit plainer. I'm wondering of a blue wash, or a green or brown wash over the sides would help it? I do have some rubber terrain I can put over the sides to help cover it up and make it a bit more 3 dimensional.

I did not try any washes on the river side but they could help subdue the vivid colors. Thanks for the link to your blog, off to read that now.

Thank for the reviews.

I would have backed BS, but was put off by their SG's -- cardstock is good for roads and buildings, but not as good as plastic, etc. for barrels, chairs, fences, etc.

Had a touch of FOMO with the Terratiles, although they're pretty expensive compared to green cloth and are, of course, flat.

Caulk roads and his CD terrain looks pretty interesting. More for dirt roads than stone.

I agree that cardstock is not the best for the smaller scatter items but some are worse than others.

Mrs. GG is keen to get some of the Printable Scenery Hagglethorn Hollow cobblestone roads printed to replace these Battle System roads but we still need to find someone to print them for us.
