I am making a list that supposed to be not good. I'm a good player and I'm playing folks who have the models but for some reason make don't synergize or aren't geared for 9th edition, much less 8th edition. One friends got a ton of eldar light vehicles, and one troop unit and nothing durable... he can't hold objectives, does lots of damage but then takes more in return. So if I make a really bad list, and play the snot out of it, I wonder if the game will be any fun.

How close did I get?

Enclaves Patrol (AKA the muscle)
Coldstar Commander, 4 x Fusion Blasters, w/ Fusion Blades (this model might be my only solid anti-tank, useful if there's a vehicle that absolutely must die)
5x Breachers
5x Stealth Suits w/ ATS & Homing Beacon
5x Stealth Suits w/ ATS & 2 Marker Drones
10x Vespid
1x Skyray, 2 x Gun Drones

Viorla Patrol
An-Shi
5 x Breachers w/ Missile Pod Turret
5 x Breachers w/ SMS Turret
20 x Kroot
1x Kroot Shaper (with Charge Stratagem Upgrade)
1x Krootox
12 x Kroot Hounds
2 x Piranha with fusion blasters

Sacea Battalion
Ethereal - Unity through Devastation - Honor Blade, Hover Drone
Fireblade Cadre
5 Fire Warriors 1/ Marker Light
5 Fire Warriors
10 Kroot
5 Pathfinders 3 Ion Cannons - 1 Recon Drone, 1 Marker Drone
5 Pathfinders 3 Rail Rifles - 1 Recon Drone, 1 Marker Drone
5 Pathfinders 3 Rail Rifles - 1 Recon Drone, 1 Marker Drone

This list brings a smile to my face. Vespid! Kroot!

Nary a suit in sight (that's a gag as the stealths should not really be called 'suits' ... and they are hard to see. Horrible pun, huh?).

That said, yes, I think you've achieved your goal. It looks pretty soft.

The game got played... we estimated the last turn as we had to finish the game on turn 4. 1pt difference in score.

Vespid are pretty decent, but die fast in mellee. Kroot hounds are terrible. Kroots are better but also not good. I left the krootox at home, could not find him, but I don't think I would have missed him in the game either.

Tau Turrets... I found a cluch use. I walked a breacher team to the center objective... was out by an honest inch... I deployed my turret. Was that worth 15pts? In this game yes, but I think realistically... not. I could have advanced the unit too and that would have gotten them on the objective unless I rolled a 1.

Having drones on the stealth suit units was awesome it made my secondary's easier (engage on all fronts and retrieve octavius data) once melee was unavoidable, everything died and my opponent was able to max his primaries and start collecting secondaries. Had their been a turn 6 I'd say he would have won.

These are the kind of games I enjoy more. You played less used units and it sounds like you had a fun less stressful game, while your friend got a game that was probably more fun for them as well, everybody wins!

I really like this list, and not just as a big Kroot fan. It's good to see people trying to match up armies and play close interesting games rather than just stomp people with meta lists.

So far, I've actually really been liking the Kroot Hounds. (I play a 1000 point all Kroot list, aside from Etherals for HQ) I'll always take engage on all fronts and use the Hounds high movement to get them into the 4th quarter and ususally score full points for it turn 1. Also, at least for me, they tend to get ignored when there's are also Knarloc's running at you and they can be used to eat light infantry or secure charges of your bigger units with their stratagem. Again, probably only good in my specific list, but I quite like a single unit of them. I also like the standard Ethereal over Aun'Shi personally, as Gunship Diplomat is pretty strong. The Krootox are... okay, I think they are the weakest Kroot unit, but they also just get ignored. I plant a couple to hold the backfield objective while everything else goes everywhere, and they just get left alone to take pot shots at things.

I was really surprised to see turrets with Breachers, I'm glad that worked out, I would have expected gun Drones if anything.

Turrets are a jank idea, I figured I'd try as many things that I would never do in a competitive list. The kroot infantry were okay, with morale being as benign as it is in 9th edition

Yeah, unless there's an Ethereal close by, they tend to run from a slight breeze.
