For what do you use the above mentioned markers which resemble the eggs from the Alien franchise? Outside of a specific "Purge" scenario in which one side has to remove them from the tabletop there is little use for them or am I mistaken?

The Genestealer datasheet has some rules for them. You can place up to four of them in your deployment zone and then do a little Deep Strike maneuver using them, if I recall.

Somewhere in Canada

They also make decent objective markers.

I intend to glue one marker on a 25 mm square base. In that way they can be used also in boardgames like Space Hulk.

How many of the markers would you use to build an objective marker?

Is there a set size for the genestealer infestation blips?

Objectives are on 40mm bases these days? So as many as you can fit. Probably one or two of the things from the stealer kit.

I play 40K from 2nd to 5th edition. So no datasheets.

Good on you, mate!

Yeah I'll be using the ones I have to make objective markers or terrain alongside some actual Alien(tm) eggs I have from the days when metal miniatures were sold for that franchise.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"
