Ok havent played since 3rd Edition - and coming back - Love the Grey Knights and thought I would give them a shot - 1st attempt at a list...

Dimmamar

Instead of Paladins, take Terminators. They are significantly cheaper with the same number of wounds and save, plus having Objective Secured.

With the point savings, give your NDKs some guns. They are VEHICLES, and great platforms for larger firepower that we seriously lack.

Instead of Heavy weapons, give the Purifiers Incinerators. They won't take a BS penalty for moving and shooting. They will be moving a lot bc of their short range Purifying Flame (and also because they like melee).

If you can find the points for the GMDK to take the 3++ Servant of the Throne gift, do that.

I'd consider Strikes as a core and hold back Purifiers for larger lists.

A simple list consisting of a cheap HQ, Strikes and NDKs is as follows (with 40 pts to be spent):

wuestenfux's advice is decent, as there is a pretty big debate about the points efficiency of Strikes vs the durability of Termies. But sometimes you just really want to play Terminators!

I think your second list is definitely better, but a Paladin Ancient isn't actually that great. Apothecaries give a 6+++ and also have a strat to raise a model, which is amazing on Terminators (so long as the unit isn't wiped).

Now that you have a Troop, you can also fit into a Patrol Detachment if you don't want to take 3 Elites.
