I think the first list is better than the second, without any scarab swarms you're not getting the full benefit of the Canoptek Spiders, and you're taking a lot out for them.
As for the first list. I'd run sword and board Lychguard over the Praetorians. They're much more durable and are MUCH better against Death Guard having a stronger D1 attack over a weaker D2 (Which DG will convert to D1.) To make up the PL, I'd cut the Deathmarks as well and just add another Lokhust Destroyer for the remaining 3. (Or maybe a unit of 5 Flayed Ones if you have them.)
Also, the Chronomancer is good in really charge heavy armies that are squishy (al la Flayed Ones). The only unit it goes well with are the Wraiths at the moment and they will outpace him on the table easy. I think going with a Technomancer with the cloak, control node, and phyalactarine hive is a much better bet. It still couples very well with the Canoptek wraiths if you want to go that route, but can also pair well with your Warriors, Lychguard, or Destroyers. Lots more flexibility for the 5PL you spend.

That's how I'd run it at least.
The last thing would be the build for the Overlord. If you were running 10 Lychgaurd, I'd say go Res Orb not question. At 5 I'm not sure on if it would be worth it compared to the arrow, however I do think that the Voidscythe is still the best weapon option, the 3 Damage minces everything, and is still good against Death Guard even with the -1 D. You can then also upgrade the Voidscythe (or Warscythe if you don't have one) to the Voidreaper Relic which removes the -1 to hit with the Voidscythe and disregards any abilities that ignore wounds.
