Hello,

I recently got my hand on a lot of necron models from friends who stopped playing/didn't need them and I wanted to get back to them.
I would like to have opinions, especially since the new rules came out, about:
- What kind of list I could make with what I have in order to make a decent list (not tournament level competitive but still fitting if I go against a serious opponent)
- What units i'd better avoid for now and why
- What units I should buy to complete the army and why

So far I have:
The whole indomitus necron set
+1 overlord with warscythe
+1 lord
+1 catacomb command barge/annihilation barge
+1 lokhust lord
+3 skorpekh destroyers
+10 immortals with gauss
+5 lichguards with shields
+30 necron warriors
+2 lokhust destroyers
+1 night scythe
+1 monolith
+3 metal specters (may be able to convert into ophydian destroyers)

Its already a nice fund.
I'd start with a CCB-Overlord, Technomancer, 2x20 Warriors, 10 Lychguard w/ shields,6 Skorpekh Destroyers.
From here you could expand.

Maybe 2x5 Immortals for retrieve Nachmund Data.

The Lokhust Lord Aura with the 9+2 Destroyers can be useful.

The Dynasty Choice will make a big difference.

I forgot to mention I have built said necron warriors already. There are 20 with gauss reapers and 30 with gauss flayers.

I also received a doomstalker for christmas.

Are skorhpeks in a night scythe not a good idea ?
And aren't shieldguards by 10 a bit overkill ?

I was maybe contemplating going on a heavy destroyers list. With 2 units of 6 skorhpeks, 3 ophydians, a good deal of lohkust and heavy lokhust with a lokhust lord and skohrpek lord.

Its ok, but it might be alot of points for a movement 8 (9 with march) unit. not sure

Some use the 10 Shieldguards for the center objective. Usually with Obsec

I posted an extreme version https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/802380.page

Indeed, looks extreme.
Any success with this army?

With night scythe idea will be likely to go for like 2" charge if night scythe starts on board. Or 6" if you come out of deep strike with whole lot though that eats up plenty of CP unless you have deceiver at hand but ensures you don't have to have flyer have to survive 1-2 rounds of shooting before unloading(also minimum movement can make getting them to right spot surprisingly hard).

So far I was thinking of 1 battalion with

HQ:

CCB
Lokhust Lord
Skorpekh Lord

Troops:

10x immortals (gauss blaster)
20x warriors (gauss reaper)

Elites:

6x Skorpekh
6x Skorpekh
1 Canoptek Plasmacyte

Fast Attack:

3x Scarabs
3x Scarabs
3x Ophydian Destroyers

Heavy Support:

1 Canoptek Doomstalker
3x Lokhust Destroyers
2x Heavy Lokhust

This leaves me about 130 pts left for either a few more units or some equipment.

Immortals or Warriors need to be split for a 3rd troop choice.
The Plasmacyte is ok, not mandatory though.
How many Resorbs do you want/need? You couuld 1 or 2.

Oh wait, I meant to make 2x10 warriors, not 20.

Plasmacyte is cool I think, and is bound to get some value with this many skorpekhs.

I was planning on 1 rez orb.

Current recommendation is to stay away from the following:

Psychomancer
C’tan Shard of the Deceiver
Canoptek Reanimator
Deathmarks
Ophydian Destroyers
Canoptek Doomstalker
Doom Scythe
Night Scythe
Monolith
Obelisk
Convergence of Dominion

Points are changing very soon, I'd wait and see before getting anything new. Cryptothralls seem to be getting nerfed in the near future.

Cryptothralls are already nerfed in Nachmund.

For every vehicle I would think if Immortals do the same job. Like 10 Immortals can almost replace a Doomsday Ark.

I use a full squad to back up a charging Skorpek Lord.
And that lord carries a Veil of Darkness.

The only time they're standing on an objective is if there just taken it & haven't yet moved off in search of more prey.

I would keep warriors in a blob of 20 and split the immortals into two units of 5

Use them for backline objective holders / performing actions

Ditto. T5 and 3+ keeps immortals surprisingly resilient especially to sporadic fire while being cheap and not so threatening opponent will feel dedicating effort on dealing them. Cheaper way to do objectives, cheaper way to screen around, cheaper to sacrifice(and sometimes they can even survive...) than warriors.

Warriors meanwhile are more expensive to throw away, more expensive to do actions with and their thing is kind of the RP for which they get buff so might just as well use it. Particularly if you have res orb around.

5ximmortal does their job just as well or better than 10xwarrior while costing less.

But Cryptothralls function very well as action monkeys.

I read for retrieve Nachmund data you roll a D6 and subtract 1 if troop. Then see if the result is your unit size or lower.

So 5 Immortals get 100%
2 Crypto get like...2/6

Cryptothralls are fine

What's wrong with the Doomstalker ?

In my Oppinion? I prefer 8 Immortals
they are slightly worse against single targets, but you get more upside.
They can also survive a good railgun shot.

Edit: The dynasty is relevant here

Edit 2: Play Doomstalker if you have them and think they look good or are fun etc. It's not a Reanimator after all.

Well. 1/3 chance of passing the new rod. So only true for non-rod missions. If you plan rod then less so. 2/3 chance for not getting it is...bad. You average less than 2 vp in a game if you try that with thralls.

The Thralls are a bit cheaper. But 5 Immortals seem to do more in general. Depends on Crypteks also.

Yes. They are cheaper. They also have 66% chance of failing the new rod.

Do you REALLY want to save few points for that low chance of success? If you try to rod yourself with just thralls you average less than 2 VP from the rod...

I think 30 Immortals is viable for most armies
