New year, new month, new round that needs a theme! Somehow it's 2022 already and we're moving into the final strech for the annual challenge rotation, so it's time to pick what we'll be painting in Janaury! This time, your options are:

Force of Nature: Elemental magic, dangerous alien beasts or forces as old as time and space are rife throughout the worlds we game in. Your entry should feature models that have some connection to the natural world or its elements.

Immovable Object: The line must be held, and your entry needs to feature the guys and gals to do it! Whether through mighty armour, unshakeable will or sheer toughness, these models should represent the forces that are hardest to dislodge once they take up position.

Cold Steel: Some warriors need nothing more than a trusty weapon at their side to wreak havoc. Whether a pike or longsword, bayonet or sidearm, your entry should feature models that fight with basic/traditional weaponry rather than more specialised equipment.

Hostile Environment: Some battles take place amidst city streets, or on wide open fields, but just as many bring their participants to places where the battiefield itself is just another enemy. Be it muddy trenches, lightless caverns, volcanic slopes or Death World jungles, your entry should feature models equipped or trained for fighting in such treacherous and deadly locales.

And as one final quick note, I'll be setting up and running January's challenge, which will go live on January 1st (remember, December's round has an extra day extension because we're all still sleeping off Chrismas Dinner... ) . Thanks to Nevelon once again for keeping things running in my absence, and to Midget Gems for continued his work on the League Table updates!

I'm going for force of nature so I can paint a saruman from lord of the rings on a diorama piece.

Going for Force of Nature, because Space Wolves are very much shaped by their homeworld of Fenris.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

My vote for Immovable Object. Maybe it'll finally convince me to finish another Russ.

Even if not, I get the feeling it would at least have the most unusual showings from the regular contestants.

I voted for Hostile Environment, as that would fit with my ongoing Deadzone fixation. As usual, I can probably find something to fit any category.

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Painting total as of 4/13/2024: 31 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Voted for Hostile terrain, as I recently picked up some Vallejo snow texture.

Anything I say, unless expressly noted, is my own opinion. Take it as you will

Oh... is voting done? Or did I accidentally vote already? Would’ve gone for immovable object. Is there any way of telling what I may or may not have accidentally voted for?

The subject polls run for 48 hours, so this one's done. Next month's theme will be Force of Nature, with Hostile Environment returning to the vote for February.

Ok, no probs. Hmmm, force of nature eh? I kinda just did that one... though I’m sure I have a spare wood elf languishing in primer somewhere.

I've never taken my Wolves to a tournament because very few of them are painted, but recently I've added a ton of stuff to them to perhaps have them ready to play sometime next summer, depending on how fast I can get them painted. I've had at least a modest collection of them for a few years now; I just never did much with them before now and I mostly play Dark Angels (and for my last few tournament outings, Sisters).
