I am interested in how much freedom do I have while building my Squigs = am I forced to build specific models or do I have a choice to make all as I wish? For example, there is a Squig that eats a goblin - do I have to build it or can I replace it with another mouth?

I don't remember how many spares there are but all mouths go on all bodies and each crewgoblin has 2 loadouts.

Looking at the sprue online there don't seem to be any spares so you'd have to use that mouth somewhere.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

Legs are specific to bodies, heads are separate. Could have sworn they had extra face or two...but yeah looking at the sprues can't come up with more than 10. Bit annoying if you don't like that one and don't have anybody to swap faces with.

Two solutions:
1) Just look for a bitz seller & buy extra heads/mouths.
3d prints also exist.
2) trim away the offending goblin bits with an exact blade. Anything you can't trim away you can disguise with putty to be the sqig foaming at the mouth.

Yeah, buying the heads and converting are the options I will think about if I decide to get the kit (its main purpose would be to use as proxy for any dog sized creatures like big rats/bugs/lizards etc. in solo games like 5 Leagues from the Borderlands etc.).

Expensive kit for that purpose.
Have you considered looking at the already primed packs that Wilkids makes for D&D/Pathfinder?
They make quite an assortment of dogs/dog like creatures.
They're cheap & paint up nicely.
One of my own favorites is the 2-headed death dog.

I use only hard plastic models so all that PVC/resin/metal etc. out there is no go for me Also Squig Herd is only expensive if you want to proxy just 1-2 kind of creatures for 1 game but I counted for 5 Leagues alone that Squigs could be used for minimum of 5-6 different enemies (dogs, spiders, bugs, lizards, rats etc.).

no options on the squig herd IIRC. Just build however you like the looks of 'em.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

The squig hopper kit comes with spare heads (two sets of seven for ten squigs, so four spares) if you don't like some of the normal squigs or just want some variation. They are larger though, and all modeled as in-air (though you could just snip off the mushroom/gas/stalagmite they're using as a stem if you don't like the height). You'd also want to not add the goblins, obviously, but they only attach via a relatively small "plug" of back skin that they rider is holding onto, so it wouldn't be too hard to fill and sculpt over.

You'd also get a "free" set of ten dramatic goblins this way, who would make good fanatics (just add a ball and chain to the hand that was holding the squig), hangers on (to a troll, mangler, or whatever war machine), or even doom diver "pilots" with a little work. And the bounderz little knight helms and lances are hilarious - perfect for characters or "elite" troops.

Interesting ideas, some inner gobbo in me may pursue them in the future , thanks!
