Almost all Custodes have the signature big, tall, pointed, plumed helmet.

Terminators don't, there's not enough head clearance to fit a big hat.

Sagittarum Custodes (shooty super-bolter guys) have short helmets, this was depicted in the Horus Heresy Visions artwork and eventually the forgeworld models themselves.

Blade champion though.... why the small helmet?

I think only dudes who stand around with the spears have tall helmets? Everyone else who does active stuff in the field, bikers, squads using rifles or jump packs, vehicle drivers, etc, etc, have short, practical headgear - I'd imagine blade champion is also in this category.

That's an interesting angle, I had not thought of it that way.
