I was going through my Eldar to look for something in the newest Dakka painting challenge when I found some old stuff I felt like sharing.

Craftworld Eldar, specifically Ulthwe, was my first army back in 2nd edition. I got rid of most of that army around the time of 3rd edition. About 5 or 6 years ago, I got my hands on some unfinished Eldar stuff (as well as stripping & repainting some old classics I hung on to) in anticipation of playing again. The gaming never actually happened, but the models looked pretty good.

And then there's this guy:

I would love to run this guy in games, but I don't think many players would appreciate that

In love with this post. From the base model for the Autarch all the way on down to the original Avatar. Thanks for sharing!

Mmm. The nostalgia warms my soul.

Nice batch of old school!

Thanks! Sadly, aside from some Warlocks and the Banshees I'm entering in the Age Before Beauty painting challenge, the rest of the Craftworld Eldar I have are third edition metals (aside from a Wraithguard here and a ranger there from 2nd edition).

I suppose I could always strip & repaint my Phoenix Lords someday?

Very nice ulthwe, no nasty yellow, just proper dark and brooding. Sweet little collection.

Thank you! I thought the bone & black color scheme suited them better.

For those of you still following along, I finished some Howling Banshees:

I tried to use a 2nd edition style look (which is why they have black manes). They have more modern weapons (ie, Shuriken Pistols instead of Las Pistols and Mirror Swords for the Exarch) because at one point, I actually intended playing Craftworlds in 40K again.

They still have the general black, bone, and purple scheme I used on the rest of my Ulthwe army above.

EDIT: One last pic in different lighting.

I like the hair color on the Banshees. I've been considering picking them up in plastic, if I do I think I'll go with a similar or perhaps dark purple for their manes.

Thanks! These days GW has their manes red but most of the original ones in the 2nd ed codex had black. It also goes with my particular Ulthwe scheme.

Wicked looking Banshees. Nice work on the helmet symbol.

Thanks! I used to paint the Shrine symbol on the helmets of all my Aspect Warriors, but I feel it looks better on just the Exarch these days.

My first army was 2nd Eldar, sadly sold in early life ‘I’m done’ foolishness. I have of course now bought it all back at thrice the price One day…

Lovely painting here, chief, thanks for sharing them! Farseer and Warlocks a blast from the past and looking gorgeous.

Thank you! I think the Psyker models work best with my palette and style (such as it is )

Here's another oooooold piece of Eldar history.

I tried an extra level of highlighting to make him pop more. A different basing style probably would have worked better, but he's supposed to match my 40K table (and previous models). I know my somber bone/black/violet Ulthwe scheme doesn't do many favors either.

But I still like the end result

Love the ooooooold Eldar style. Those classic circular belt pouches! Oh it takes me back.

The extra round of highlights gives his dark armour an almost starlight sheen, And the all-bone weapons are my kind of interpretation of how it should be. Excellent work.

Ooh, I love this generation of Eldar! I used this particular model as a Dire Avenger Exarch when I still played 40K.

Now showing various models from the previously abandoned projects!
