So I want to build a black templar army purely cause I like the colour scheme. I have loads of unassembled primaries marines and assault marines and loads of other units. Can I just assemble the core troops load out as 5 or 10 man squads with all bolters or bolt pistols and chainswords from my old kits because are their tactical squads called crusader squads that have a mixture of initiates and Neophytes?? Can I not use my older models that are all helmeted and just say that 5 are Initiates, 1 is a Sword Brother, and 4 are Neophytes?? Even remove some of the helmets and just replace them with bare heads to make the distinction easier it's just the Neophytes don't even have full power armour?? So confused, please help

After looking at the black templar upgrade kit it's just the bare heads and shoulder pads on the sprue that I could put on my older marine kits anyway so does it not matter that my Neophytes would be modelled in full power armour??

Also I only have space marine codex at mo hence the questions

So can they have standard tactical squads as well as the crusader squads anyway then?

The only Space Marine units you can't take as Black Templars are librarians. You can still use regular intercessors, assault squads, tactical squads and so on in a BT army.

Crusader squads are just another option you can take on top of the regular SM unit types. You can have a BT army without any crusaders at all.

A tactical or intercessor squad doesn't become a crusader squad just because you stick BT shoulder pads on them.

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.
