Hi all. I'm gearing up to start painting new army and decided I'd like to start with some new (and more) colors. My research has.caused me to land on Army Painter for the combination of the size of the sets and the value. So, I have 2 questions:
1. Are there any pros/cons out there from more experienced painters about the army painter line? I've read reviews and all they say is that some love them and some don't really.
2. I'm looking at two sets, the Mega Miniature paint set with 55 paints/washes and the very similar 60 paint set. They seem to have close to the same numbers of washes, metallics and effects but really negligible. Its maybe 20 bucks more for the mega set but it comes with a few brushes etc. Does anybody use either of these and am I really nitpicking over almost identical sets here?
Anyway, both are.likely more paint than I really need for this specific army but id so like to only need one paint set for any other army or project I do. I have cheap.craft paints for terrain already.
Thanks all. I figure I.cant go wrong either way but maybe somebody has some info to help me with my analysis paralysis.
Army painter IMO is great for washes, but I don't love the layers. They require a GREAT deal of shaking to get them to mix, but once you do, they are a pretty solid value, especially in the sets.
I would simply avoid any one size fits all paint set. There are too many different options out there, that all have their pluses and minuses.
I have very little experience with Army Painter, but the few paints I've tried were what I would call strictly average. There are better paints, there are worse paints.
