What In morks name did they do to Makari?
Why in the Zog did GW think a 2+ invuln was too powerful on a 4 wound grot, to the point they made it a shadow field. I know it’s the 9th ork codex, where fun goes to die but just reading the rules this was completely unexpected.
I guess you could throw him in front of a big model, but it’s not like he’s t6 and 10 wounds or something.

I think unfortunately it's just a general trend towards nerfing invulns in 9th ed. That's why 3+ invuln saves are pretty rare outside of a few characters and one-use abilities. Makari is no exception, and unfortunately they thought that taking away his perma-2++ save was necessary. Ironically, on the initial Ork release, the thing that was broken about Makari was how you could use him for Grot Shields originally, not his invuln.

Either way, it is pretty dumb, but just be glad we even kept it to begin with, versus something else that's more useless.

Having a 2++ character perform actions and occupy table quarters or deployment zones could have caused problems in the long run. He got a 10 point drop for the troubles, so I think he is better off now.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
