Hi all,

I've been painting models and minis on and off for 15+ years and have just got back into painting warhammer models after 2 years break. I used to do mostly 40k but moving to AoS after being inspired by total war

Here are pics of a Skaven Plague monk as well as a warp lighting cannon I did over the last few days. I really appreciate any advice on how to take my painting to the next level, what I'm doing wrong or missing, and any techniques that would make my models look better. (bases not done yet)

Hello.
Pretty good job on them rats!

Can recommend this:
You can try to push the contrast even more.
and
Priming models in white and trying to paint only with thin washes gave my painting a good boost, can try that too.

Thanks!

Yeah good call on the contrast, I spent most of yesterday watching videos on contrast haha.

Still a bit unsure on where to start but kinda figuring it out

Looks like a great start! I painted up almost my entire Skaven army using contrasts (and null oil over metallics) just over a year ago. I’ve stalled for now on painting, but if you’re interested, you can see my P&M blog at:

Hasn’t been updated for a while, but I did describe what I did in some detail…
