Hi all,

I used to collect Necrons when I was a kid, and recently found all my old stuff in the attic and would love to finish off all my models and get back into it. The issue is a lot of my paints are more like a paste, some are seperated, and some are obviously unusable.

My question is, can I use the separated and thick paints? is it just a case of mixing with water? Or is it worth biting the bullet and buying more? Most of them are probably ten years old or more.

(they are all citadel paints)

I also have a model which I cannot find anywhere on the GW website, I will try and attach a picture and I would love it if one of you could tell me who this fella is!

I hope this is the right place to post this,

thanks in advance

I believe that's the original finecast version of Illuminor Szeras.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
The name definitely rings a bell!
Would he still be playable?

About your paints, I would say you could go ahead and give mixing and/or rehydrating them a try, but test them (and brush off your rusty painting skills) on junk terrain or sprue bits. When rehydrating, I recommend just a drop or two at a time of distilled water, and maybe a drop of flow improver for the worst off. The ones where the paint has completely hardened/solidified are dead. If you plan to do the basic Necron color scheme of Boltgun Metal with Mithril Silver highlights (now Leadbelcher and Runefang Steel respectively), Tin Bitz inners (now Rune Lord Brass or ), Shining Gold trim (now Auric Armor Gold or Retributor Armor), and green energy (old clear green plastic rods and Goblin Green paint), then I recommend picking up the Warhammer 40,000: Paints + Tools Set as it will have all the basic paints and tools you need. There is a Necron themed paint set, but you're better off with the full kit as the Necron set has neither a gold nor the gun metal for some dumb reason. Just brass and silver. Also no clippers nor mold line remover.

I'd just buy new paints personally.
