Subject: What do I need to play my orks these days (FAQ's, errata, updates etc...)?

As per the title - I'm a long time player but had a break, coming back in now in the middle/autumn of 9th edition and based on how things went in 7th and 8th, I'm assuming that the codex I own isn't all I need any more. Sigh.
So, what do I need? Used to be I'd need an FAQ, but I can't find one on GW's website. There also was a book in 8th which was all the errors they'd made, so now you can pay for the privelage of the correct rules. Is this still a thing?
Currently just trusting battlescribe and playing friendly games, but I want to try for some tounaments (someone has to come last!) and want to make sure I have everything I need!
Just seen a dataslate on another thread which says indirect fire weapons changed and fliers are more limited, and Orks can't bring more than 3 of each buggy (one unit of each), presumably to help spread the purchases for GW's team to justify not making them a multi-build kit. Is this balance data slate the only one I need, or do I need to go digging for all of them since 9th came out?
I sure do miss the days when a codex was released and left to it, with an errata released occasionally for the big fixes.

If you haven't got a core rulebook, I'd start there. I like the format of the mini-rulebook that came in the Command Edition Starter - if you can move the Marines and Necrons for a reasonable price, the rulebook and terrain wouldn't be bad value, I don't think.
There is a 9th edition Codex, which came out with new models - this is that version of the book.
If you have any units from the Forge World range, you'd also need the FW Compendium for their datasheets.
You mentioned not being able to find FAQs? They're up on the Warhammer Community site - specifically, on this FAQs page. Last Ork one came out on September 14th, though there are more recent documents for the core book and the FW Compendium (if the latter is applicable).
Depending on how you play the game, there's a Power Level Update document on the FAQs page too.
If points are your thing, the latest Ministorum Field Manual (full points list) is included in the Chapter Approved book, alongside the current Grand Tournament missions. I'm not sure when this one is getting replaced, though, off the top of my head. Alternatively, there is a French version of the MFM available on the WHC site, which I believe is thanks to a printing SNAFU.
Finally, for now, there is the Balance Dataslate - this is a document being released roughly every 3 months with "balance patches". That's available on the WHC Downloads page, applies to Matched Play games only, and includes at least three changes for Orks in there (mostly nerfs).
Oh, and there's Warhammer Legends if you're looking for units which have been removed prior to 8th.
As for optional content, there is some in Warzone Octarius 2 for Blood Axes and Speed Mobs; I'm not an Ork player, so I don't know how useful it is, and it may not be valid after January 2023. GW have, in their infinite insanity, stopped selling this book, even though it hadn't been out all that long, so you'd need to source a second-hand copy.

There also is forgeworld legends, which contains quite a number of ork models which have been axed from their catalogue.

When playing tournaments, speed mob is pretty much the only way to have a shot at winning with buggies and bikes. The only other way to play competitively is by buying a bunch of beast snagga stuff and making them goff.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

Thanks all for the replies!
I had my first game against a friend who's started orks. Oddly enough, it was all beast snaggas and all goffs...
Looking forward to a rematch on Thursday, want to make a better list for it! My main thing is wanting to make sure I'm using amended points and not accidentally cheating!
For instance, I had planned on making a load of buggies - now I know not to make more than 3 of each!
On a side note, the bloodaxe supplement looks cool, where do I get that? My original clan was blood axes, and they have some cool looking stratagems and warlord traits. Are they matched play "legal"?

Unfortunately, the blood axe supplement is part of the second Octarius Campaign Book: Critical Mass, which is currently OOP on the official GW website, so if you want a physical copy of it you'll have to find it on eBay or something. Also, they are matched play legal until Jan 2023 I believe.

The bloodaxe supplement is a cool way to play if you want to focus on infantry - it has support stratagems for storm boyz, lootas and kommandoz, but also works with other infantry units as well. There is little to nothing for vehicle there though.
It's not tournament level strong though, but good enough for casual competitive.
I'd try third party vendors to get it, especially brick and mortar stores tend to have extras.
