What the subject says, I'm looking for some easy to apply tips on how to best do auburn / that reddish-brown colour of hair, the easier the better given my lacking skills with a brush.

If it helps, I have a crapton of Citadel colours at my disposal, as well as a wet palette should that be helpful for mixing things together.

I usually start with a reddish/brown, washed sepia, then lightly drybrush a dark red like Khorne red over it. (you can also try going with a dark orange over the brown).

Thanks, I'll give this one a go, just need to find the right base colour to start off.

Do you mean this relic?

If so, happen to know the modern equivalent of this one?

For a different approach to what's been suggested so far, have a look at this:

That's:

A red brown basecoat.
Dull orange area highlights.
Light orange edge highlights in the orange areas.
Red purple wash (I used diluted burgundy, but if you have a matching Contrast, I'd suggest that for ease of use)
Red Contrast layer.

This isn't a bad place to stop if you want a lighter, more vivid auburn. If you want to go with a darker shade, the following one in the sequence adds a thin layer of Skeleton Horde Contrast, which is applied a little thicker underneath to darken that area a bit more.

That’s the one. Very nice reddish brown. My pot’s still good, so I’ve not had to find the modern equivalent. Places still sell the old coat d’arms stuff if you dig around.

I tend to go for Rhinox hide base with a dark red drybrush (either Mechrite Red or Mephiston Red).
