In The profile for Aun'va it is stated that Aun'va is equipped with: "nothing", something I have never seen before.

In the brb it is stated that "if a model is not equipped with any melee weapon...then that model makes its attack using a close combat weapon..."

The way I am reading it is if Aun'va is in melee he would use a close combat weapon. Is this right? I am not sure as I have never seen a profile that specifically says it is equipped with nothing.

It just means he has no wargear. He still has a Close Combat Weapon just like any model that lacks a melee weapon.
