Following the death of Kentaro Miura there was some question about whether his iconic, frequently graphic, and much beloved fantasy epic Berserk would be finished by the team of people he had recruited over time to help with its production, or allowed to stand as an incomplete testament to the man who died before it could be completed to his satisfaction.

At last, we have the answer: https://kotaku.com/beserk-manga-continue-kentaro-miura-new-story-kouji-mor-1849027173

Must have been a hard decision to make, but hopefully they manage to do it some justice with what material was left by Miura.

This is a tough one. The story is at such a crucial juncture. The line between giving people what they want and taking the story where it deserves to go is razor thin. I'd hate to be trying to take it over right now.

The lack of extensive notes will be a difficult thing to work with; however on the flipside he's had a team working with him for a long while. So in theory they've got a greater handle on the creative process and thinking he went through and some of those elements already exist within his established work.

So even though there might not be extensive notes, there's a team of people who've been writing and drawing Berserk alongside him for years. That is a very powerful thing in helping to achieve a similar style of creativity that he had during his life.

Even the medium itself might well lend itself to be more easily taken on by a new hand/lead as opposed to book writing.

I'd view this rather like two authors who co-wrote a story and now only one is left to continue rather than like World of Time or similar similar where the author died before the work was completed and someone has to come in, pick up the notes and step into their shoes mostly afresh.

Sounds as if they have enough information to give us a decent picture of where Miura wanted the story to go. I'll definitely give it a go
