They both look good, but the grey panels really add something to the ultramarine.
Makes it pop, while the IF looks more stock.

They both look amazing, fantastic work. I'm biased towards Fists and you've already done so great with the yellow, so i think I would love to see how you do units like Templar Brethren.

It might be that the grey on the ultra makes him pop less then the yellow fist. He just seems a little drab next to the vibrant yellow.
Both are well done, but I voted for the fist.

An army of either would look great. I prefer Imperial Fists but that's just my personal preference.
Also, isn't collecting an Ultramarine army like going to an ice cream shop with a hundred different flavours and asking for 3 scoops of vanilla?

I agree with Ultramarines being vanilla in 40k, but they seem way less popular in 30k which is appealing to me

Both are great.
Real question is can you bring yourself to paint an all yellow army, one of the most difficult schemes to pull off effectively?
I really like the UM scheme you have there.

How to say you never read any UM fluff besides dumb 4chan memes and you have no idea about any of it without actually saying it: the post. UM are way more varied and diverse force (in every way) than 9/10 of the other Legions, and comparing them to vanilla when they literally have Chapters attached to all other Imperial forces to learn from them and copy their tactics* (meaning, you have both WE-like and IW-style Ultramarines next to 'classic' ones, that's why they founded so many Chapters after the Heresy, in fact) is just pure ignorance. You can do anything you like with UM, down to using minis of other Legions with UM heraldry, and the fluff backs that up 120%. Vanilla? Wut?
* RG did so to put other schools of thought in his big Tactics book, heavily implied to be future Codex Astartes, because he saw value of having them on hand to use in unexpected situations even if he disagreed with them personally. You know, open mind and actual thinking instead of having lame one trick pony Legion unlike most of other Primarchs, which if anything is THE real boring single flavor vanilla of Heresy...

I like both, but I've always been a fan of more muted Ultramarines with grey as a secondary colour, and well-painted yellows are always a win. Whichever you go for, it would be good to keep the dust effect you did on the feet of the Ultramarine - makes it look so much more a part of the environment, rather than a model which just happens to be standing on the base.
