I see BFG topics scattered all over so i think we should do this like our ongoing epic 40k thread and just put all things BFG here.
Post pics of your projects, finished tables, fleets, battles etc....
I do not get to play BFG as much as i would like, hopefully we can make more time for it soon.
This was the game we had scheduled for this weekend.
2k world eaters with Abaddon and the conqueror VS battlefleet bakka led by grand admiral Rath in his victory class battleship.
the game was a passing engagement. with a planet that had asteroid rings. and a few areas of gas clouds. a few new players wanted to jump into this battle so we broke up squadrons of each fleet for different players.
Early on the world eaters were having a tough time of it. the guy using the X4 dominators only missed 1 time with is 4 nova cannons firing for 2 turns. the gothic and mercury were a bit out of position thanks to the new player experience. it was quite a chase as well the khornate forces only managed to make boarding actions 2 times. but between that and the assault boats the end result was catastrophic. the Jovian blew up which blew up the victory, one dominator that was crippled managed to ram and destroy one chaos ship. while another dominator exploded due to a boarding action.
The imperial navy limped away with only 3 ships. giving the forces of the blood god a decisive victory.

That experimental tau paint...just wow i think it hurt my eyes.
Still turned out fantastic
P.S. the Jovian kept those assault boats off me for a few turns so it wasn't all that bad, it is effectively a newer imperial version of a Styx. even if it was an emergency refit job.

The problem isn't that the Jovian is a capable ship, the problem is that it is an Imperial Styx. The gunnery fleet of Bakka having access tot he most capable carrier of the Imperial Navy is just plain wrong.
Hence, I did not like them for adding it to Battlefleet Bakka. It should just not be in existence.
After that last game new players have shown an interest in building their own BFG forces. so far i have heard interest in orks and grey knights/inquisition

Yes they have been glued to my mind ever since i saw them first time in 05. I never liked the Armageddon expansion Tau.
Just lead the new blood over to the 3d print, and do a few cruiser clash with them. (actualy that might be a good idea for your area, print 2 cruisers and 2 escorts from 4-5 fleets for demo game use)
Originals are impossible to find and not worth the very high price tag imo. While they are not exact visual copys, they are clouse enugh that it works just fine.

Collects: Wild West Exodus, SW Armada/Legion. Adeptus Titanicus, Dust1947.
The opening salvos from those canons had me afraid it'd be a VERY short fight... but then I was able to eventually get within boarding range.
Time to get back into painting minis instead of my house so my fleet is more photogenic.
Last monday played three games vs DoublebaseFanatic (Discord/Instagram member).
First game was 1000pts Adeptus Mechanicus vs Orks. Many laughter as my Adeptus Mechanicus made a bloodbath of the Ork. His first Ork game though.
Spoiler:
After that we played twice the scenario the Raid testing the Tyranid Devourer fleet for Book of the Void 2.
The first one was me against his (beautiful!!) Tau, well... me playing first time with Nids got wiped due the fast manoeuvring Protectors.
Spoiler:
And the second raid saw the Tyranids versus the Imperial Navy. Learned, and the less manoeuvrable Imperial Navy meant that the initial turns the Tyranids nom nom a Mars battlecruiser but after a few turns the Imperials got back into it and the Tyranids had victory point win.
The hull is from Soulforge; the prow is a downsized word beared gloriana prow (also Soulforge); the bridge, hyperlance battery and icon on bridge are from Battlefleet Galaxy.
There you go blinding everybody again with those bright colors.......i think you may be a harlequin.

Showing a new player the ropes so we just did a small game. battlefleet bakka VS chaos- nova cannons hurt alot. slight edge to the imperial navy.
The center planet is courtesy of a microwave food cover and a bit of custom paint-moons are from the LEGO Star Wars sets.

Ok I'm going to ask here but is there a guide to witch gun is witch as i had pair of chaos cruiser but no rule book and while i um lost the two ships years ago i want to know what weapons, are what, for the different ships like what turrets are witch and what the different ones look like? Like which are the lance and the heavy lance or the snub macro cannon and what they all are to know on sight as I'm not sure.
From left to right bits-
.batteries
.lances
.lance/batteries combo
.hangers
for an example the devestation would have a set of hangers and a set of lances
the carnages would have 2 sets of batteries etc...

Ok but i mean there are 3 types of lance turrets i seen in my research and like which turrets are macro cannons missile and what is the difference in looks? How you tell macro broad side battery from plasma battery?

Most named ship classes have a picture which can be found on the Web somewhere..
The Oberon-class is a nice example - from prow to stern those are batteries then lances then launch bays.
ok so are the apocalypse classes dorsal turrets which are unnamed type macro cannons or lance cannons? also its said the "wings have turrets no type listed i figure they are AAA and missile screen weapons but are they auto cannons or missiles....
yes, I'm the nerd that need-to-know what size small arms the crew on the Bismark has...

To much detail for Battlefleet Gothic.
You have weapon batteries,.lance batteries, launch bays, Torpedoes and the nova cannon.
(For Imperial Navy that is, some other fleets have things like heavy gunz, pulsar lances or bombardment cannon instead)
The detail you seek is available in the RPG rogue trader from FFG. (Not sure if the current RPG has that info as well).
Sadly not. Rogue Trader does have that detail but it's worth noting there are only so many classes with a 'default' weapons load described for an NPC ship, and there's never been a true battleship started out (the biggest ship is a grand cruiser).
Generally a lot of the turrets on wings, dorsal and ventral positions are what contributes to the turret rating (flak score). Rogue trader notes that vulcan metabolters are a common weapon used.
I have not painted much myself lately expect getting my old 3.5 dark angels back up to speed and some station forge versions of the dune crawler for my admech army for our old hammer games.

Some absolutely beautiful stuff in this thread. I don't know where to start!
And some really impressive miniature photography horizon, it really shows the miniatures off well.

I think the grey knights might have a thing or two to say to the white scars for using one of their strike cruisers.
