I started this project a couple of years ago but it takes me forever to get anything done. Anyway, I really liked the Daughters of Khaine faction from Age of Sigmar, but there was little point in buying any since I don't play the game. I also wanted some mortal backup for my 40k Slaanesh demons, but a bunch of skinhead thug cultists didn't seem appropriate for Slaanesh. The obvious solution was to solve both problems by combining them.

I started with a Start Collecting Daughters of Khaine box, some sisters of slaughter and a bunch of Slaanesh demon bits. This included an alternate keeper of secrets head and parts from an exalted seeker chariot kit, which comes with two identical sprues. You can build each separately as a seeker chariot, combine them to make an exalted seeker chariot, or awkwardly use one a half sprues to produce a hellflayer plus a load of parts with no purpose.

The result is the Hedonites of Khaine:

The sisters of slaughter are now chaos cultists. Their kruiplash chain whips represent brutal assault weapons and a couple of models have autopistols to remind me that the unit is also supposed to have those. The pistols came from Genestealer neophytes if I remember correctly, and I had to sand the Khaine emblems off of the shields to keep them appropriate. I added chaotic symbols to a couple of the shields, plus some Slaanesh-style writing on the banner.

Whilst the gift of daemonic possession is usually reserved for chaos space marines, Slaanesh sometimes decides to favour his most depraved cultists with this blessing. On the rare occasion that they survive they become snakelike possessed. These were originally Melusai blood sister models.

One possessed managed to rise above all the rest by provoking more delightful agony than any other. Over time she grew to fully embrace her ophidian nature, eventually morphing into a fully-fledged daemon princess, armed with a hellforged 'sword' (spear) and malefic talons. Her model is the bloodwrack medusa that is supposed to sit atop the bloodwrack shrine.

Two Heralds of Slaanesh push the cultists and possessed to commit ever more despicable acts. These started off as a hag queen and a slaughter queen. Both needed face, hand and feet replacements along with a single mastectomy. One herald holds a goblet of blood wine from the chariot.

Finally, the Hedonites march into battle alongside their (very) exalted seeker chariot. This started off as a bloodwrack shrine. The chariot is augmented with flayer wheels and is drawn by two steeds of Slaanesh, whilst two cultists guard the stairs leading to the cauldron of blood wine. The statue holding the bowl is now a captured Adeptus Custodian. I used a red base coat covered by thin coats of flesh colour to give him a half flayed look. Another herald stands astride the chariot, watched over by a Keeper of Secrets peering through the miniature Fane of Slaanesh.

BONUS: The dormant avatar from the bloodwrack shrine has been repurposed as an Aeldari Avatar of Khaine. I never intended to spend much time on this but I think the splotchy molten effect worked out pretty well.

BONUS BONUS: The Slaanesh demons can call on additional support from a daemon prince...

BONUS BONUS BONUS: ... and a Soulgrinder.

Good combination - I noticed the Daughters of Khaine looking useful for Slaaneshi cultists and grabbed a few myself, but they're all mixed in with other types of conversions, it's neat to see them as a consistent cult like this. (I had the same thought re: the 'skinhead thug' cultists, although I'll probably wind up mixing a few in - I have a few of those daft-looking plastic Goliaths from the first edition of Necromunda, I'm thinking of adding one as a cultist just for the sheer comedy value.)

The bright bases are very striking, but if you don't mind a suggestion, have you tried putting texture on them? I don't usually do more than a basic PVA glue and gravel pass before the undercoat on my gals, but it works pretty well - I feel like the vivid colour you're using, slapped on some gravel with an ink sloshed over for shading, would really pop.

Thanks

I tend not to spend too much time on the bases because I find them to be the least interesting part of the model. I just wanted a sort of swirly chaos pattern. But yeah, maybe I can try something more elaborate in the future.
