Hi.

What is a good breakdown of eliinator math? What wepaon should I be using vs caracters?

Also, if I do include a character with aura to babysit them for a re-roll is it better to re-roll the hit or the wound? The hit is on 3+ usually. But the wound is on 4+ if I am against anything T5.

Quick maths, the odds of forcing an armour save are:
(number of shots) * (chance of hitting) * (chance of wounding)

Adding in a typical marine reroll aura is normally going to be rerolling 1's only. Rerolling 1's improves the odds of success of that roll by 7/6 - so in almost all cases it makes no difference whether you use a captain or a lieutenant.

Using your example of hitting on 3+ (4/6) and wounding on a 4+ (3/6) would look like this:
No reroll aura:
1 * (4/6) * (3/6) = 1/3 of shots force a save roll

With a Cap:
1 * ((4/6)*(7/6)) * (3/6) = 2/5 of shots force a save roll

With a Lt:
1 * (4/6) * ((3/6)*(7/6)) = 2/5 of shots force a save roll

Sniper weapons generally have a mortal wound option on the wound roll though, so in practice a Lt is slightly better at buffing Eliminators, but a Phobos Cap also has a sniper weapon and forward deployment ability to actually contribute with.

The Carbine also bypass look out sir, but let us dismiss that one. These are the bullits.

Executioner round
36" Heavy 1 5 -1 1

Each time an attack is made with this weapon profile, add 1 to that attack’s hit roll. Targets do not receive the benefits of cover against attacks made with this weapon profile.

Hyperfrag round
36" Heavy D3 5 0 1 Blast.

Mortis round
36" Heavy 1 5 -2 2
Each time an attack is made with this weapon profile, an unmodified wound roll of 6 inflicts 1 mortal wound on the target in addition to any normal damage.

I suppose the Hyperfrag round is better vs multi person units. But then the Mortis rounds seem to be way better then BS+1 to hit on the executioner rounds. Depending on how much cover there is.

You always want to use the Mortis rounds against characters. Hyperfrag rounds are typically used if there aren't characters available to shoot and you want to clear some chaff. The Mortis rounds are always the best against characters.

You *can* include an HQ character to buff them, but taking that character for the pure purpose of buffing the eliminators is never a good idea. It is always more cost effective to buy a second Eliminator squad than to have a Phobos Captain or something hanging out with them.

However if you have a captain or dreadnaught nearby anyway, then yes it can be very helpful to set a buff up. Probably it is very slightly better to go with the reroll to wound because of the 6 deals mortal wounds on most chapters; as stated by Insularum.

The carbine is not particularly a good weapon. If you are after killing characters I would leave it at home and just take another bolt sniper rifle. The carbine is mostly useful if you want to use the eliminators as a utility squad to make good use of their movement options.
