Hey all,
Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong forum (I'm new here).
I have a few quick questions as to the genestealers (tyranid elite choice) war gear choices:

I know in 8th edition that they could choose from scything talons & rending claws and they would do different types of damage but in the 9th edition it seems to combine those in the stat line.
When I assemble the models do the claws & scythes do the same thing and its mostly about style choice?

Also is the acid maw the head with the tentacles and the flesh hook the ones with the long pointy tongue?

I'm guessing these questions seem silly, I've pretty much only played the tutorials that come with the elite edition and nothing more but hopefully someone can give me a quick answer.

Thanks!

There is no longer any difference between the claws, correct.

I’m not totally sure which head is supposed to be the Maw-but so long as you’re consistent, it should be fine.

Welcome to the hobby! Enjoy

The current genestealer kit dates to 2005 in 4th edition when the current aesthetic for the Tyranids was refined/established. The codex for that edition included a visual guide to the genestealer head options (some of which may no longer be valid options).
