I am somewhere between cassual and semi competetive. (Just play with friends, but we hade loosing big.) Anyway, I have been wanting to get in on that D2 long ranged weapon action.

Everybody did relic contemtor with volkites. Often in Iron Hands so you can make it a character and hide it with Look Out Sir. I play wolves and eying the leviathan dreadnought it cost more points and loose core. But it has more health, better saves and if I run 2x Stormcannon and chest volkites it has a lot more shots and AP then the volkite contemptor. It has shorter range though...

What do you people think?

A good combo in a mechanistic SM army are relic contemptors and redemptors.
Downside (moneywise) is that relic contemptors are from FW.

I have 3 redemtors. But they are a bit unreliable to me. And I always always have them blow up in my face. Last game vs Tau it blew up and all 5 units nearby (mine) got 3 damage each. An outlier for shure, but they often blow up.

Money wise the relic contemptor will be available in plastic GW and not from forge world in the next week or two. The same with the leviathan one. So that is less of an issue.

This is good to know and will round off my Dreadnought gathering very well.

The new plastic contemptor has most of weapons including volkite though you need either two or separate sprue to get double gun variant.

If I had to pick only 1?
Then it'd be the Leviathan.
Whatever it's armed with, it just looks too cool not to put on the table.

And remeber, magnets are your friend.
