You could try posting in the “Local Gaming” forum a couple down from this one, or try the store/player finders in the menus here.

If you know a FLGS, ask around there.

It also helps to post what state you are in and sometimes what city/region of that state as well. States can be huge and you've also got elements of transport to consider.

So having some idea what region you are in helps a lot.

Esp since you say you're in the USA and the forums software thinks you're in Canada

After that I'd open up google and see if there are any local geek shops in your area. Wargame stores, Games Workshop, comic book stores and the like. Basically anywhere geeks gather to buy stuff. Places like GW stores will have play and groups directly at their site; whilst others might not offer gaming tables, but should have contacts with the local clubs/groups if they are around

They are in the US, and the forum thinks it is Canada?

Must be in Minnesota then! LOL.

The easy lead is to find out where people play Magic and start asking around from there.

GW has a handy little store finder on their website...

A Google search is a good place to start as lots of clubs have online presences.

The online presence of your favorite game night be a lead for like-minded gamers. Our club formed over a decade ago when 2 of us were contacted by another guy on the Song of Blades Yahoo Group!

The Meet-up site is where I recruited members for a number of years.

As had already been noted, asking and positing a notice at your FLGS, hobby shop or library is a good start and there is a player dinner here at Dakka.
