After the Army Painter Speedpaint disaster, this could be good.
Although I also like the regular AP paints and washes, so...

AP released a faulty product. It has nothing to do with techniques. If you have to varnish after every step, there is no "speed" in Speedpaint.
I pump out many hundred figures a year for decades so I am rather fast with regular washing and drybrushing techniques. AP was my first taste of the Contrast-like stuff and a huge disappointment.
I will certainly try out some Xpress paints, but I will never go for a whole set at start.

OK, just received my few bottles as a test order and had to try them out imediately.
Looked iffy first, but when dry it has a really nice finish and good shading effect. Painted over cheap white primer from the DIY store.
Very soft, squeezy bottles, watch out.

I also had to try out if it taints the colors painted over it, like AP. Painted Vallejo white over "Omega blue", "Velvet red" and "Martian orange" - no bleed through, no tainting. Still pure white.

Very nice so far, I will always stay an old school paint-ink-drybrush painter mostly, but whenever I use Contrast-like paints, I will buy the Vallejo ones from now on.

Actually, does anyone have a top tip for German hobby shops that might have a discount on the new Valllejo stuff?

Not the new stuff, but Miniaturicum.de already sells the new Vallejo (Xpress) paints and has a sale on the old stuff - if that helps you.

Really like Vallejo paints, but oh boy, those new bottles are trash. If they would just switch back or at least make the new ones close tight...
