Basically i have a couple indomitus sets and want to know what to add next.
Immortals? I want a shooty army so these seem ok.
Tomb blades? These seem cool and shooty
Heavy destroyers for anti tank?
I thought about flyers but they seem weird to me. You get one turn and have a minimum movement so it seems like bad planning will have them just flying off of the table.
I really like the look of doomstslkers. Any thoughts?

Basically I’m open to suggestions and looking for what to add.
Thanks!

Ah, all my favorite Necron units.

• Immortals - these guys, even over basic warriors, have been one of 2 work horse units in my army for decades now.
You really cannot go wrong including this unit.

• Tomb blades.
Fast. Tough. BS.3 Well armed/high rate of fire for thier oft used unit size. Living metal. Reanimation protocols.
••I went to alot of effort back in 2020 to magnetize all the weapon options. And I rarely bother changing out the basic Gauss Blaster.... and that was before 1/2 my foes received Armor of Contempt.
••I always upgrade mine to sv3+ & the 5++ invulnerable save.
I skip the Nebuloscope & it's ignoring cover ability in favor of the two save upgrades because this unit has a high enough RoF to overcome cover mods by volume.
In my general lists they often replace my basic Lokhust Destroyers.

•Lokhust Destroyers - both types are the 2nd true workhorses of my armies. And some of my favorite models. These days though I tend to use the Heaviies more than the basics due to Tomb Blades.
The heavies can make better use of cover than either the Doom Stalker or the Doomsday Ark.

•Speaking of the Doom Stalker....
I love this model. For that reason alone it's got a place in my lists.
It's also a pretty good AT platform! And sometimes it's overwatch ability comes in handy.
Advantage? It's height allows for good LoS to its targets.
Disadvantage? It's height. And that it doesn't have Quantom Shielding like the Ark.

•The flyers.
I love my Doomscythe(s). I always include at least one. You may have noticed that the army lacks any kind of indirect fire. That means my Scythes job is rooting out those annoying things foes like to keep hidden.
After that they can go hunting other units as needed.
If I'm using 1? I start it in Strat Reserve & bring it on turn 2. It keeps it safe if I don't have 1st turn & let's me see where it's needed.
If I'm using 2? I start with 1 on the board & 1 in reserve.
••Thier movement. Yes, this takes some practice to use well. But that's not a good reason to skip using the unit.
Oh, and did I mention they look very cool?

dang CCS, thank you for the write up.
im thinking a combat patrol or two or three may be the way to go... lol.

i still wish i could see using the doom stalker. its damage just seems to swingy, i hate d6 damage.

im still looking for a way to use my reanimators too. its too bad the rules and points just dont justify using them.
im trying to think of a counts as for them.

Everything CCS said works for me.

My 2 cents would be investing in a Catacomb Command Barge & C'tan.

IMO a tooled up CCB is one of the best HQ choices in 9th edition.

Additionally, C'tan are literal monsters. I almost always take two detachments so I can have two in my army lists. I'll usually pair Void Dragon with Night Bringer or VD with a Transcendant and rampage across mid board.

•The swingyness of the Doom Stalkers damage: {shrugs} its pretty much what we've got on our high str/high ap AT stuff. Since i need AT & no matter what i pick will be swingy I don't see much point in worrying about it.
If I take a DDArk? Same swingynes, + quantum shielding, BUT on a model I don't articular like.
My Heavy Lokhusts? 1 shot, still swingy, but a min of 3.
So if I'm going to have a swingy weapon, I might as well have it on a model I really like....
Of course, as I tend to play lists heavy on Fast/Heavy slots, I simply take both Stalkers & Lokhusts.

•Ah, the poor Reanimator....
Such a cool model, so despised.
My best advice? You paid for them, you own them, youve spent time building/painting them. So use them on occasion.
OK, maybe not while your trying to win a tourney. But in the random casual game? What do you have to lose? Or maybe take one in a Crusade? Pump xp into the thing, get it up to Legendary status with a bunch of upgrades.
My own Reanimators often come out to play when I'm facing newer players. I have two. They babysit a pair of Immortal units (right flank/left flank), look cool, plink off a few wounds here & there, score some VP, & occasionally do thier actual healing job.
They also demonstrate that there's nothing wrong with playing 2nd tier unit on occasion.

Tomb Blades are a pain to assemble and you already have many fast attack choices, an amazing choice, but save it for later. A CCB and Immortals would be a waste of money for you ATM, you already have two Overlords and plenty of Warriors. Nice things to have, after you get well-rounded 2000 point army.

Consider a Ghost Ark and a Chronomancer although I would argue ranged anti-tank should be your priority, a Doomscythe, Doomsday Ark or Heavy Destroyers would currently be good choices, who knows what will be in vogue in 6 months.

One Reanimator in a list with one or two resurrection orbs and 2x20 or 3x20 Warriors is quite good. Taking three Reanimators is pure silliness, but it can work with a bit of luck and good matchups.

I actually think the Doomstalker is worse than the Reanimator, no reason to bring one over the alternative options except if you really like the model. The only edge cases are if you play very aggressively with your characters so you can use the aggressively costed Doomstalker Stratagem. Of course the problem is increased at larger points sizes where the Silent King reigns and the Doomstalker is one of the handful of units that do not benefit from the Silent King's buffs.

Thanks Vic.
I was thinking of pairing up the doomstalkers with a couple triarch stalkers for the reroll.

Any thoughts on that?

I’m also starting to wonder if i should just ignore the heavy slot all together and focus on something else?

Is there another option to take out vehicles more reliably?

Silent King. I have yet to see a necron army not running him. He makes a huge chunk of the army work properly and is one of the unit that generate points for necron armies.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Enough Warriors with reapers will kill vehicles with Stratagem support, Skorpekhs are also alright against vehicles. Silent King is really good against everything, including all types of vehicles, at the moment he is a pretty cheesy choice. Against vehicles with blast weapons or low BS just tying them up in melee with Warriors or Scarabs works. Nightbringer is good against monsters and vehicles, Void Dragon is worse against monsters and better against vehicles.

I think I'd sooner go for 3x Triarch Stalker rather than 1 Triarch Stalker + 2 Doomstalkers at their current points costs. Generally, I think it makes the most sense to only bring 1 Triarch Stalker just to apply the re-roll. I actually really like the melta/flamer on the Triarch Stalker, it is super versatile and the low range isn't such a big deal in 9th.
