Hi guys, with the new goff rocker coming out I'd love to get a 40k rock band together, I know there's the noise marine then the new goff rocker, any idea of there's any other mini playing instruments? Ideally modern looking models as an old 90s model might look abit odd. Cheers

Modern? No. Retro? There’s an Eldar musician and the obvious Goffs and Noise Marine. That’s about it.

The oldschool guitar-toting Noise Marine was recently resculpted wasn't he?

Fantasy/AoS has a variety of models playing war drums or gongs, if that counts.

chaos deamons have a fair few, due mainly to being AOS/40k crossover kits.

bloodletters, deamonettes, seekers, horrors, and bloodcrushers ALL have hornblowers in thier kits.

Plaguebearers of nurgle have a Aulos style multi-flute (ie several full length flutes, not a set of pan pipes)

the slopity bilepiper has bagpipes, and Infernal Enrapturess has a harp (made form the mutated arms of a human slave, cos slannesh)

so, yhea, quite a few. all they really need is a drummer and you have a band...

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

well, i was not aware of them, and was focused on the chaos deamon kits i knew were AOS/40K dual use, and not thinking of/aware of any others.

There are a bunch of drums on the lizardfolk cold one kits. Also, these guys: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Moria-Goblin-Commanders. Victoria miniatures also has some very guitar-y noise marine bits iirc.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Yep, and some had percussion so you could so a full band. I'm thinking someone had special drums back in the day. Obviously, the Skaven had a screaming bell, but that's not the same.

Funny, I'm just finishing up a bunch of Noise Marine conversions.

Want a better way to do fantasy/historical miniatures battles?  Try Conqueror: Fields of Victory.

Do you like Star Wars but find the prequels and sequels disappointing?  Man of Destiny is the book series for you.

IIRC Reaper has a pack with guitars, it wouldn't be hard to replace shoots and make more Ork rockers.

Did the fantasy orcs have drums? If not Chaos Marauders do.

Then you're most of the way there.

Most core fantasy units in Warhammer had a musician of some description - usually drums or horns.

Alongside a standard bearer with banner, and a "sergeant" (different names in different units) the three had effects on number of hits, morale and combat resolution

Correction: all fantasy units had musicians as part of their upgrades. The standard bearer was +1 to combat resolution and the musician was the tie-breaker. Since GW sold them all in the same pack (champion, standard bearer, musician), it's a given all of them exist.

So yes, such figures are out there for the discerning and diligent collector.

I believe you are correct about the musician being tie breaker - I didn't look up the rule, just remembered it was there. I would question "all" in your correction. I reserve the right to be wrong, but I don't recall, for example, any musician upgrade being available to jungle swarms, a Lizardmen core unit. I suspect this may be true of other core units, but I haven't checked ALL fantasy units myself. Happy gaming!

The swarms made their own music. QED.
