The new Cult of the Cryptek Army of Renown has this rule: "This unit never gains а Dynastic Code." I'm unsure if this effects Circumstances of Awakening. See, when you choose a Dynasty, they seem bundled together, however, when you create your own, it specifically says, "Unless you selected the Vassal Kingdom Dynastic Code, you can then also select one additional code from the Circumstances of Awakening list." Which seems to mean that the first part of the code is the Dynastic code and the Circumstance of Awakening is separate. It is also VERY clear that you DO still pick a Dynasty, you just don't get the benefits of the code (this lets you still use strats for that Dynasty.)

What do you all think, could you still get the Circumstance of Awakening if you don't pick a standard dynasty, otherwise, there is never a reason to go custom with this Army of Renown.

A dynastic code has multiple codes, novokh for example has three. The circumstances of awakening are an additional code to the dynastic code. Both are your dynastic code. You dont benefit from circumstances when you use this AoR.

ANCIENT DYNASTIES
If your chosen dynasty does not have an associated Dynastic Code, you must instead create their Dynastic Code by selecting one code from the Dynastic Traditions list, below. Unless you selected the Vassal Kingdom Dynastic Code, you can then also select one additional code from the Circumstances of Awakening list.
