So, just looking for a bit more information on this. From what I know, the Mandeville point is the closest distance to a system that a ship can exit or inter the warp. Something that's unclear to me though...
Is the Mandeville point just a distance, as in a point of distance reached away from the star, or are there specific points at the edge of the solar system that are the points of transit temselves. What I mean is, can a ship exit a solar system from any direction so long as they reached the correct distance away from the star, or could you blockade the specific Mandeville points to trap a fleet in a specific system?

It's not very specific. It seems that it's just the minimum safe distance and systems are blockaded by interception rather than at specific points. The fleet manning the blockade could hide in asteroid fields or in the orbit of planets only coming out when interception is necessary rather than being a constant presence at the outskirts of a system.

My understanding is the Mandeville points are areas where the gravitational influences are sufficiently small that it is safe to operate the warp drive. By convention, and because many ships use charts, these would be at well known points for a star system such as the solar zenith and nadir points with respect to the orbital plane. This would allow for blockade of a system.
Riskier less well charter points allow for blockade running

Mandeville points are just the distance warp drives can safely be activated away from a system. There's not a set point, unless planets in that system set them for security. For example they might want to limit the locations all the merchant vessels travel to in order to ensure they can be adequately escorted by defence monitors.

I always got the impression it was a bit of both. Especially from the Seine of terra books the outer most point would be a manadavile line but then there would be points closer in to the system that can also be used for short hood in system. Or at least that’s what the space battles in the books seemed to suggest

I'm fairly certain there has been cases where people perform warm jumps not near the Mandeville points and it's generally considered dangerous as all hell.
Perhaps for the ship, but also for any nearby planets, space stations and the like. In theory opening a tunnel into the warp would be safer in open space as there would be less souls in the area to attract demonic creatures. Letting you slip in and out of the warp without drawing any gribblies into real space, even if they wouldn't survive too long before dissipating.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a story or two where someone weaponized warp engines near a planet to cause havoc.
