Makes plenty of sense to me, and do not think that is all that loose with lore. I would think that a psyker with mental manipulation capabilities could easily fill the void left by the lack of any other such influence over a single hybrid, while a purestrain GS likely would be more difficult but still possible to control if strong enough without any Patriarch or Magus providing competition.

If the Patriarch still exists (since you used the term steal) than this would be more difficult but essentially would likely come down to a contest of wills between the psyker and Patriarch for control, so if greater the Psyker could win.

i mean, its not beyond the pail. The lore that started the ork vs nid fighting in octarius was based on imperials planting genestealers (captured at great cost in lives) on ork planets to lure the nids that way as a breather for the imperium, and thats like 20 year old lore these days.

stealer cults are generally genetically programmed to listen to the hive mind, but i would say its not impossible for a sufficiently powerful psyker to "trick" a cultist into thinking he was the hive mind.

I'm pretty sure there's a BL story about a Hybrid who has been taken over by an =][=, and used to infiltrate a cult, or something along those lines.

OP, you mentioned a genestealer that looked almost human - you're aware that's a cultist, rather than a purestrain genestealer, correct?
