So with the new gallowdark terrain set and the new boarding action it looks like 40k is getting it's version of zone mortalis. Now, I've never played a game on a zone mortlais map before and I'm curious at how well the new boarding action terrain pieces would work. Are they similar dimensions?

They're a bit different than the Necromunda/Zone Mortalis stuff. Mainly, the previous ZM terrain had thicker walls, but ultimately was made out of a mix of pillar pieces and wall pieces that would sort of fit together.
I think you could play Boarding Actions and Zone Mortalis with either set of terrain and it would work just fine, since most rules are about not being able to go through walls, and both sets have doors that you can open/close.
I'm excited to try ZM for 30k and BA for 40k and we'll just have to see what sticks!

+1, you could use the new terrain for ZM. The wall thickness/measurements etc. really weren't key if you will. I've got a 6x4 board of the classic stuff and I think we'll try the new boarding action rules on it for the guys that haven't plunged into 30k proper yet.

I'm going to try to combine both terrain kits somehow for playing with any of the three current systems (Zone Mortalis/Boarding Actions/KT21).
I know the kits do not interlock in any meaningful way, but I can still make interior layouts combining both. Easy enough to sprinkle a bunch of ZM pillars into the new IttD board with a sparse build, or to make some sort of long ZM walls (with a couple doors) that split the board in half etc. The kits kind of conplement eatch other, in that the IttD kit gives easy access to long walls, and ZM gives easy access to pillar type structures. Both look similarly gothic so wont clash too much visually.

for what its worth I used to find the classic Space Hulk boards made for some very interesting small model count 40k games so this could/should work well

Oh yeah, if you want to go the tileset route then a lot of options open up. Easier to make yourself, to be fully modular and of course store away between games.
