Hi everyone,

seeing that the last Thread on a similar topic is 10 years old I start a new one.

I am looking for the Arch Enemy of the Raven Guard. In the old Thread (asking for each chapter) a lot of votes were on Alpha Legion and I am wondering if this is still the case.

Were there any developments in the plot in the last 10 years which would change that?

Alpha Legion? Death Watch? Something else?

Thanks!

The Raven Guard operates on principles similar to the Alpha Legion at the times of the Heresy, i.e. Sabotage, Guerilla Warfare, Covert Operations etc., so the enemity makes sense in that regard.

If you want to go for more 'epic' confrontations, apparently Corax has a vendetta against Lorgar specifically and stalks/harasses him in the warp, although the RG in general seem not to be aware of that. But if you want to do your own fluff, Word Bearers could be a good Archenemy for RG. Thematically that also fits: WB are one of the better organized chaotic forces, they have supply chains, rule over worlds, have a lot of slaves and holdings and as such form a good target for typical RG tactis, and freeing their slaves or at least organizing resistance cells and insurgencies thematically fits the RG very well.

Honestly? They don't really have one.
The Heresy wasn't very personal for them because they were never very close with the other Legions. Unlike say the Word Bearers and Ultramarines there wasn't any real disdain that would blossom into a "Big Thing" i.e. Calth.
Generally, the Raven Guard didn't get along with the Sons of Horus and Night Lords, with the former being a dislike of Horus using the pre-Corax XIXth as shock troops and the Night Lords being the antithesis to Corax's ideals but the Dropsite Massacre expanded the list of "Legions we don't like" to include every Traitor Legion.
They don't really seek out a particular enemy and don't really fight any one faction with more zeal or aggression than another. At best you could say as a Chapter the Raven Guard take pride in eliminating those who turned during the Heresy but they're pretty underdeveloped compared to say the Salamanders or Imperial Fists.

Thanks so far
Yeah I doenst have to be a another Chapter, could also be Orks or Tau or whatever

Basically I am looking for fluffy stuff to put on my miniatures bases. So who they got most beef with and to make it the same on every base the "Arch Enemy" would have been nice.

But if they dont seem to have one, then i just might get to pick "whatever" ^^

Alpha or WB... might be worth taking a look at then

Gathering the Informations.

The two that would be the "best fits" that the current Raven Guard would know about are:

-Death Guard. The Death Guard have destroyed Raven Guard gene-seed in many instances where the two have gone to war.

-Alpha Legion. The Alpha Legion sabotaged the Raptor project that Corax undertook.

I'll echo that they don't really have one. Part of the consequence of not being part of the original narrative, or an ascended chapter (like the salamanders or even ultramarines- who had a very different history in the RT era)

From some of the fluff snippets, their big enemy was themselves (or possibly Corax) and bad decisions.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.
