Exalt the dark gods: need an infantry unit wholly within 6” of the center of the battlefield. Perform this action at end of movement phase and ends beginning of next turn, Unless the infantry unit has an icon, or is a Dark Apostle, or Master of Possession it can be completed at end of your turn. Psychic powers can be used while performing this action. This secondary cannot work while an enemy unit is wholly within 6” of the center of the battlefield.
Minus the above statement that psychic powers CAN be used while performing this action, the following actions CANNOT be used If a unit does any of the following before it completes the action, the action fails:
is destroyed, makes a Normal Move, Advances, Falls Back, (does not apply for Exalt the Dark Gods: attempts to manifest a psychic power), declares a charge, performs a Heroic Intervention, makes any ranged attacks after it has started to perform the action
1. It is important that you are able to get the points at the end of your turn instead of waiting for the beginning of your next turn. Thus having an Icon unit or DA or MoP to do it is key. Otherwise your opponent may cancel your action on their turn if they get a unit fully 6” onto the center with you.
2. Getting fully within 6” of the center of the battlefield the first turn.
A. Warp time psychic
B. A vehicle and disembark like rhino, land raider, termite, drop pod
C. Warp strike terminators, obliterator, a terminator sorcerer but will complete at start of next turn
D. a big movement unit with advance if it can reach like raptors.
3. My opinions. There are stratagems that allow a DA to cast anytime during the turn and there is a stratagem to allow a unit to shoot while performing an action.
However that costs CP so let us see what we can do without using extra CP
A. Rhino or land raider if it can reach.
B. Termite or drop pod can first turn to get exactly on point.
C. MoP might be best for getting points first turn but needs a vehicle to get there.
Drop pod 115
Option A. If you use a drop pod you can have 3 obliterators and a MoP. Drop pod blocks one area while Obliterators protect and shoot while the MoP does the action and can cast Cursed earth on all of them for 4++ invulnerable save and Mutated Invigoration to give the Obliterators 6 toughness. I would add Malefic tome to MoP to get +1 to your psychic rolls and add pact of flesh to heal and return a dead Obliterator.
Option B. MoP with a squad of 8 Rubric marines and one aspiring sorcerer. Rubrics have an icon as well. MoP can perform action and cast skeins on rubrics giving a 3+/4++ and mutated invigoration to give them 5 toughness. while the aspiring rubric casts prescience on them so they can shoot at 2+ BS and have an extra -1 to ap and they get +1 to armor save vs d1 damage weapons.
Termite. 180.
Termite costs more but has better toughness. However it cannot take obliterator terminators jump packs.
So it’s best option is B above with 10 rubric over 9 and the MoP which also allows you to take 1 more of something like chaos spawn chaos lord dark apostle (with no dark apprentice) exalted champion sorcerer etc.
