If you cursed earth possessed to give them 4++ invulnerable and possible mortal wound damage if charged, you would need to run the master of Possession with them. Is it worth it? Since most of their other abilities have an 18” range and you cannot sacrifice daemonkin, it seems like giving up too much.
However cursed earth and master of Union are both 6” distance might be a good def/att combo?

Depends on the Legion you're running them with and what your gameplan is:

If you're talking about a 10 man blob with the Rune that you just want to toss forward it's gonna be worth every day of the week, as stacking defensive layers makes them esponentially more efficient.

If we're talking about 5-man squads for more "surgical"/hide-n-seek gameplay then probably not, it's still worth bringing the MoP of course but getting the +1 to wound power together with Pact of Flesh will usually be better as you'll want a much more versatile.game plan for the small strike teams.

You can also just have some spare legionaires for Stabbing or give it a mark of tzeentch and the relevant relic, which with a Venomcrawler will give you a +2 to cast anyway.

I personally would not...

Possessed are excellent candidates for things like advance and charge whether they're large or small and they want to be in close combat. With such incredible movement, I feel like it's *somewhat* easier to keep them from getting charged.

Since you'd be a fool not to choose "Pact of Flesh" with the MoP, you're left with one other psychic power to choose and "Mutated Invigoration" seems like an auto-take if you're running any Daemonkin. +1 to toughness, +1 to strength or BOTH if you roll well enough seems too good to pass up ...imho

+1 to toughness on toughness 5 Possessed is particularly nasty for an opponent to deal with / wound effectively.
